Sad to say....rest in peace.
Initial reports say suicide. ...asphyxia.
One of the greatest of all times....sad to see him leave.

He's battled mental illness for so many years. I forget which movie it was, but I've read that he came off his meds so that he could better play the role he was cast for. Granted for a man that's battled depression for as many years as he did he's probably lucky that he pushed through as many years as he did.

Shocking. Such a talent. Seems harder to accept a comedian has this darkness that laugher can't overcome. Very sad. Peace be yours!

SHAZBOT!
(nanu nanu)
he lived about 90 minutes north west of me. it was on all the local radios on the way home. He threw it all away at 63. Makes you wonder what was so terrible about life that he was not able to overcome, making him feel better off dead than alive.
Clinical depression can be a bitch!
Rest in peace mate!

I agree TR clinical depression is a biatch. It would not surprise me any if half of our members here were suffering some sort of depression at any given time. myself included. It makes no sense but depression never does. I notice mine more when coming off a cycle. but we are dealing with our hormones which affect the brain. but we look at people like Robin Williams who seems to have the world by the tail money, fame, women and still to be depressed so bad as to take his life. Man sometimes life blows. One thing i have noticed is that most comedians suffer from depression and use humor as a way to cope. Apparently in Robins case this was not enough. He will be missed...

Everything gets thrown out the window when you battle addiction. For many, it's tough to understand. Family, money, fame...non of it matters. It's just you and your demons staring face to face with one another. Nothing else. I've had very close friends die from addiction. You're living a nightmare often when your using, and also when your trying to get sober.. Depression is inevitable for everyone for the most part, at least for the first 90 days being completely sober, sometimes up to a year.. And for many, years after getting sober. But addiction and depression go hand in hand. Robin Williams was battling and unfortunately he gave up his fight. RIP.

I usually don't care when I hear about some celebrity dying, but this one actually upset me.
The guy was awesome.
