Coach suspeneded for high score.
What is going on in this world where we are suspending a coach for being too good?
California girls high school basketball coach suspended after 161-2 victory | Fox News
If you don't want to get your ass whooped then maybe you should prepare your team better. This touchy feely stuff with our nation is driving me nuts.

Hey bud, long time no see!
I agree, everyone getting a trophy nowadays is just not right. It doesn't allow for good competition.

i wonder if they would suspend a boys coach for the same 'offense?'

This is retarded. If anything, the OTHER coach should've been suspended for doing a shitty job coaching. That coach should've been ashamed of himself for not preparing his team to fair a little better than 2 points. He should've done the responsible thing and forfeited.

Its called sportsmanship and at some pint it goes past the point of ridiculous. I would think you could even tell your bench players after several minutes to "tone down" the offense. After all it isnt like they were getting quality practice against such a shitty team. I personally think the coach should be getting shit.

Pretty sure a 100 point lead had them "dead" LOL the other 58 points may have been overkill!!!

Its just a good attitude to have. The game is not over till the ref blows the final whistle. Just pump out 100% till the end. Remember when Australia beat american samoa 33-0 in the soccer? Should they have stopped after 20 out of pity? No having pity in a sports game is a bad attitude and disrespectful to the sport.

I think its up to the loosing team to say they give up at some point just like in war the looser surrenders. Its not the victor goes to them and declares victory without them giving in.

As a spectator, I would have walked away from that game. Would have just lost interest because obviously one of the teams lost interest as well.

It is poor sportsmanship. Can't argue against that.
But there's no reason to punish the coach.
The losing coach should have forfeited at half time. There's just a point where its more embarrassing to get killed like that, then to just admit defeat

You use to see this all the time in football and other sports. Not at half time but when there is only a couple minutes left and it's obvious there is no way to catch up they let the clock run out and spend the time shaking hands.
I hate the way a lot of things are going in this country. Every participant gets a trophy? No 1, 2nd or 3rd place. No more A+, A, A-, B+, B, B- etc in school. BS, maybe in kindergarten but from Grade 1 on up it should be based on grade.

Yeah, but ever remember what the girls on your high school girls basketball team looked like? They're remarkably similar to the ones who played on the softball team too.
If that existed, you, I and about 90% of this forum would have season tickets.

I don't think the coach should be in trouble, the schools should take blame here, there are divisions in sports for a reason. Obviously this team that lost is fuking horrible and had no business playing teams in that division. I completely disagree with telling players to tone it down, or go easy, that is not what competition is about, give 100% until the final buzzer. It should be up to the refs or losing coach to intervene. There should also be a rule in place to protect coaches and players from this going that far in the first place, the persons responsible for making the rules are to blame, not the coaches or players.
