State of the Union Address
Anyone watching this?
Obama is one cocky person, in a bad way.

I had more important things to do like a school play. Taking a dump would have been higher on my priority list also.

State of the Union addresses have been a joke for years, and not just with Obama. They're little more than campaign type speeches. The president gets up there, says he's going to do a bunch of stuff he absolutely cannot do - he presents it almost like a king would (Obama does this even more emphatically than some of his predecessors) but it makes the acting president's constituency happy. What's worse is this is how many base their votes for existing and upcoming politicians, which simply means most have no clue how our government works.

I can't get over how so many people dont realize when he talks about raising taxes on the rich he is not talking about the Bill Gates of the world. He is talking about you and I.

They really should just stop having a "State of The Union" address. I mean, we all know he's full of shit and going to just lie to us for 2 hours. And how many people actually watch this bullshit anyways?

it's too bad, really. i have so many frustrations with what our government is doing and how our society is evolving and i think it is effectively impossible to have any impact unless you have a lot of $$$ or connections (or A LOT of time to invest). further it seems that for a politician to be effective at his job he has to play all the games and ultimately become part of the problem.
ugh. what we need is a good revolution.

I have many frustrations with our government too. However, I truly believe it is the lackadaisical attitude that so many seem to have, the attitude that it is hopeless and there is nothing we can do is the biggest problem. Most Americans fail to realize how much power they really have compared to so many other places on earth. This problem also exist with another problem, the manner in which we seem to be giving up our power and choosing to say "government should do X for me." These are the problems. Hope is not lost.
