    De-Flate Gate, Pats cheat again???

At first I didn't think this was that big of a deal. Today though, it was reported 11 of the 12 game balls were in fact significantly deflated well below the NFL standard.

Ever since the Tuck rule, I have had this suspicion that the ref's secretly had the Patriots back at critical home games.

This isn't the first time they have been caught cheating.

Belichick should be suspended for a year if this proves to be foul play at hand.

as i understand it, both sides used the same balls - so it was fair, wasn't it?

No they are changed frequently. Thats my biggest concern is the Seahawks will he playing against the refs again more than the other team like in 2006.

They inspected the balls at halftime then switched them.
First half Brady was not that good and threw a pick
2nd half with "normal" balls he was 12-14 with 2 td's
I am a fan and I am pissed because of this but they would of rolled the colts either way.
They should be punished especially if the coached cheated and was he the one who knew it or did it.
Suspended for a season is what I think will happen

I don't think there is anything to this. Here's what's up. The Colts lost and they're too big of sore losers to just man up and take their medicine.

I think one of the Colt's WR even tweeted who cares we would have lost the game anywah. Didn't Blount have 3TDs? An under inflated ball def helps with those running touchdowns lol

The balls were inflated 2PSI under the minimum limit. I'd hardly call that significantly deflated well under the nfl standard.

I think it's funny the original source for this is the Ravens. They lost, accused the Pats of using an illegal trick play and Brady tells Harbaugh "Maybe he should read the rules."
This is Harbaugh's way of saying "Oh yeah Tom. Well here you go. You read the rules."
As a fan though I am disappointed if all this is true. I know Belichick is one of those coaches that if 1 out of 100 times something will help you win he will do it. It's part of his attitude and every team out there would want him as their coach. Tell me a team like San Diego would not want to be dealing with these problems right now? 12 years and 6 Super Bowl appearances? But you have to go through some scrutiny.
I think just about every team out there would want that. Just sucks to be viewed as cheaters.

I think a lot of people out there are missing the point.

The Patriots clearly broke a rule. A rule in which the NFL clearly put some thought into to even make it a rule in the 1st place.

With NFL fining athletes who don't talk to the media or wear colors that don't match their uniforms. Or wear Beats headphones. Which none of those directly effect the game.

But deflation of the ball does affect the game. Maybe not by much but still affects it.

Then you have the fact that the NFL clearly protects QB'S to an unfair level no to mention it's superstar QB'S can do no wrong.

Then you have the Patriots past spying troubles.
It's pretty Cleary the Patriots will bend the rules to gain any advantage they can.

So the NFL need to harshly punish the Patriots to show rules are not to be broken.

Suspension of Billiceck and Brady seems fair to me.
Because in anyone was at the front of this it would have been Brady.
He handles the ball the most. And gains the most from the deflation. There noway he didn't know.

I'll preface this with I am a Pats fan:

Then you have the rule which doesnt allow Lynch to wear good cleats. A rule in which the NFL clearly put some thought into to even make it a rule in the 1st place. Just bc something is a rule doesn't mean it always makes sense

Then you have the fact that it's ludicrous to assume only one team cheats. This team just happens to get caught bc of past exposure, not bc they're the only ones cheating.

Then you have the fact that Brady wasn't the only QB in that game who was using the deflated balls.

Yo also have the fact that Aaron Rogers has said in the past he prefers an overinflated ball and has had them filled over regs and waited to see if the refs would take some of the air out.

ESPN did a demonstration and gave a QB 3 footballs all with different psi. I believe bettis was on the receiving end. Both of them could tell which footballs were the correct psi, over psi, and under psi. An under inflated football would benefit a QB with smaller hands.

Gma had Strahan and another ex gator qb I believe said the same thing. Except not small hands. Under psi gives them a much better grip on the ball. And easier to catch. As a defender Strahan said it's harder to cause a qb fumble because of that extra grip.

    Still missing the point.

Lynch wasn't allowed to wear those cleats because they were gold. And gold is not a registered color of the seahawks. That rule is regarding color not performance.

The whole comment about other teams cheating is an assumption. Not a fact.
It's is a fact that the patriots have cheated.

Actually both teams bring 12 footballs for each of their offenses to use.
So no the Colts did not play with the same balls.

yes they cheated and got caught. Had no meaning on the game, they could of used concrete blocks and still beat the colts.

They will be fined, as they should.

All this talk of year long suspension is silly to me. The nfl has become such a huge force that everyone from little girls to old woman follow, they really dont know the rules but they still follow. The nfl is huge. This in my mind is causing all these crazy calls to suspend brady or coach for a year or not let him play in SB.
uneducated fans is what i chalk it up to.

this shit happens weekly in the NFL. dont even start with what the kickers do to the balls. They cheated, got caught, and should be fined.
and for the record, I hate tom brady.

I don't believe they should be suspended for the year. But from the Super Bowl absolutely. And be fined

No way suspend for SB, nfl would never shoot themselves like that.

And yes girly he was. NE was caught filming other team practice.
Coach was fined 500k and they lost draft pick.

The point I'm making about the cleats is that you said:

"A rule in which the NFL clearly put some thought into to even make it a rule in the 1st place."

NFL Clearly put some thought into even making it a rule in the 1st place....it wasn't really the color. The reason he couldn't wear them is bc any gear not issued by the team itself must be approved ahead of time. My point is just bc something is a rule, doesn't mean it's a well thought out rule or even makes sense. What about the Bears player who got fined for wearing green cleats for some mental health awareness month or something? He was helping a good cause and was fined but the league put thought into making it a rule in the first place. I understand one is a performance issue and the other isn't. I'm not saying they shouldn't be fined for deflating the ball, but Rogers has had overinflated balls and is quoted as saying so even letting it go until the refs found out and deflated the balls to regs. Every QB has their preference and I think they should be able to have whatever pressure they want in the ball for each team. I get it though, they broke a rule and something's got to give.

Oh really? No nfl player has ever been caught using steroids ? No NFL player has been caught using adderall?

Edit* the refs switched out the game balls at half time didn't they? The pats scored most of their points after that point

Yes refs did switch out the balls during the half. And The Patriots would have won either way. Nobody is discounting that.

The Patriots get caught and regardless less of our opinions should be penalized.
Since Tom Brady selects the 12 balls he should be suspended.

If the NFL doesn't penalize the Patriots harshly for their 2nd offense. It tells other teams in the league, go ahead and bend the rules no big deal.

I'm a Lions fan so I could careless who wins. The integrity of the game has to matter if not why have any rules in the first place.
And as a football fan I'm tired of QB's getting special treatment.
You can't sneeze towards a QB's these days without drawing a flag.

Today's NFL is geared towards helping QB's succeed. So why did T.Brady feel he needed to gain another advantage by deflating balls?

Please don't tell me you believe Brady had nothing to do with it.

Couple of things I'm gonna state first. I hate the Pats. I also don't think if the balls were regulation the game would have ended any differently. That being said. The NFL does some stupid stupid shit. First off hire full time refs and keep the same squads through the playoffs. Don't rate refs individually and then allow higher ranking refs to officiate more games. A "team" wins or loses as a team. Same should be for the reffing squads.

Next have the NFL bring 20 balls to a game. Don't allow the teams to supply their own balls. Even the playing field. Both sides use the same balls properly inflated or not, scuffed or not.

Blows my mind the largest professional sports league in America is officiated by part time officials and if proper ball inflation is that big a deal then eliminate the variable.

Eat meticulous, train ridiculous for best results.
