That's really awful. Had to put mine down over a year ago and I'm still reeling from it.

Dogs are just like people... only better.

Man, I am so sorry to hear this. I understand where you are coming from. I consider my dogs to be my children, not just a "pet". They really are a family member, IMO, and it really is a mind fvck when we have to say goodbye.
.Although I am " owned" by mastiffs, I love all breeds of dogs. You can put me in a room full of people and if there is a dog in the room, that is where you will find me.
Moving forward without them never gets any better, but with time, it does get a tad easier.

There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Know how u feel budy. It ****ed up my hole life up. I will only be 90% happy...at most. My Doberman had to go, just 4,5 years old..4 years ago and my Great Dane, last summer
I remember when i was a child, our neighbour had to put away their German Shepard. He run a sucessfull oil buisness, though as hell, he never showed emotions. But when he lost his dog he cried and said to all. I will never get me another dog. I didnt understand that. Come on, a dog gives you ten years with pleasure, how can one day of death match that. Well....but...when i lost my dogs....i understood what he was talking about.
Couldnt care less if humans die. Good...but when a animals and dog dies....f uck i feel sad....weird

i shared my first dog story, and then re read some of the posts.

i'm on dog #2 now, and he's still young - just 4 years. the unconditional love and loyalty is well worth the pain i will eventually feel after he's gone. i think the upside is so worth the eventual downside for so many reasons. the other really cool aspect is how different the two dogs are - they end up bringing out different parts of me (and my family). so the overall experience is incredible...

after some time, rusty, get back on the saddle, there is no such thing as conservation of love.
