Why Philippines?

Ive been there many times and it feels like home more than home does if that makes sense. Also your money goes a LOT farther there and I can afford to retire very comfortably while trying to do a lot for the people and local community more than I ever could in the US.

Nice, I hope mine will be done in about a month. Got to love the prices compared to home.
This is just my starter/part time home (1100 sq ft, 2 bedroom 2 bath) when I visit there until I move/retire in about 2 years and will build a ore permanent home, 4-5 bedroom.

1.Visit SoCal
2.Vacation at a Sandals resort
3.Go to a big Euro soccer game
4.Tomorrowland
5.Get a nice car.......haven't had one since I got together with my wife, I buy her new one's and take her old one.

Been to sandals 10 times in Jamaica, They are awesome but there are some resorts just as nice for less money.

You guys! I have the opportunity to check #2 off my list. My mom offered to bring me to ny for 10 days in October. She'll cover expenses. I want to do it, but two problems:
1) I'd have to arrange care for my very challenging, disabled son. I've never been away from him for more than a couple days his whole life (15 years)
2) My mom and I have a complicated relationship that would make it difficult to spend so much together time with her


Luckily I don't need to decide right away

Wow thats tough, well #2 I wouldn't bother me but #1 is something else on its own. Can you go to NY for less time? 7 days in NYC is a long time.

Not really. There is a lot to do plus she has family. You also cannot count on great weather everyday in October.

Yes but she's worried about spending that much time with her mom and away from her son............so why not cut it shorter? Spend one day getting back together, sight see one day and the last see a show and dinner. She could have a great trip and be back to her son in a few days and not have to worry much.

Ok I missed that. It would definitely suck 7 days stuck in an apartment because of the weather (assuming 7 days of bad weather )

Update: my sister and I might split the trip with each staying approx a week and enjoy a few days when our stays overlap. My mom lives in California and is 85 so she really needs someone to keep her company and safe as she does old people stuff in the big city. It's looking like a good solution.
Still gotta find care for my son. And my sister is full-time care giver for our 94 yo dad, so she'll need to line up care for him. I'm fairly sure we'll be able to manage it.
As for spending so much time with my mom - well I dont have to be sober
