Does the economy affect your work?
Just want to get peoples opinions...
Do economic fluxuations greatly affect your work flow or does it remain fairly steady?
What do you do?
Take a minute to think and be honest about it.
I have no angle, I am just curious at the different opinions/lifestyles.

Not really.
I work for a paving company and our state DoT is our largest customer. Granted, some years are better than others because everything is bid based. However our CEO firmly believes “greed will ruin you faster than anything”, so our estimators are pretty well trained in number squeezing.
Pair that with the fact that we have developed a reputation for absurdly high quality workmanship, due in no small part to our QC division (where I work) having the CEO’s backing in making the crews do shit the right way, and we managed to build two asphalt plants and quadruple our revenue through the 2008-2012 economic shitshow.
Did things slow down a bit compared to what we might have been able to do? Sure. However, we did grow at a crazy rate while a lot of other corporations were downsizing or just shutting down outright.

My business is 80% ag related in one way or another so the farm economy affects my business a lot more than the national economy. Oh and by the way the farm economy is pretty shitty right now.

Yep. Can’t fund the school, class sizes go up, making it very difficult to teach effectively. Less supplies, no or ancient books that don’t currently work with what is being taught. Salaries don’t compete, better teachers leave & move to richer school districts.

As the largest industry in the world and here... It basically dictates all. Thats why we made special tax exemptions and subsidies for farms.
End of the day you dont need insurance. You need to eat.
Dumb, silly, rednecks...
They rule the earth from right here.
Again no angle. I just want to hear all opinions lol

Work for a company as a sub-contractor in a shipyard. We do blasting and painting, mainly on navel support ships. Our livelihood depends on defense spending, most of the time we work 6- 10's. Some times that's for 6-8 months at a clip.

To give you an idea here in my country, there are 13.5 million unemployed Brazilians.
This is all the fault of a leftist party with socialist ideas that was fucking Brazil 14 years ago ...
Known as PT (Workers Party)
All areas were affected, industry, commerce and etc.
Many Brazilians are currently unemployed working informally to support themselves.
But Brazil is growing again, with a right-wing president named Jair Messias Bolsonaro.

I sell air conditioners! If the economy is not doing well it hurts big time. Especially because we are a high quality/price company.

I'm in the restaurant business and definitely effected by the economy. If people don't have money they just stay home or get fast food.

Yes, quite a bit.
My job is essentially selling luxury items (expensive wine) so when people feel secure and flush they buy and when they don't feel that way a lot of the money just dries right up.

I can say I notice it much. The IT industry is pretty resilient at the moment and will probably stay like that for a long time as long as you are dynamic and change as tasks are very different at each job.

The funny thing about the pay is that it stayed the same as I moved. Got an SF salary but live in a place where the cost of living is 10x less (Let's ignore the water crisis, dirty AF everything, horrendous air, and complete lawlessness) so it worked out pretty well. Never actually lived in SF, the company is just based there in that area like many IT start-ups.
