Water--drinking too much can cause cerebral edema, the case of Jennifer Strange...
how worried should one be about this?
You may note that we drink lots of water almost a gallon to ease up the joints when lifting heavy and to hydrate the body
Jennifer Strange a Nor Cal woman in 2007 had entered a contest and she drank lots of water; she was relatively healthy and only in her late 20s
almost a gallon in the space of 3 hours
it's not to clear if she urinated, the radio contest probably forbid anyone urinating
the contest's name was hold your wee for a wii
wii is some video game system very popular in the year, 2007
How does one avoid drinking too much to the point of causing the cells to swell which in turn causes cerebral edema?
It's probably too much in a short space of time (and without urinating) ?
Part of that probably involves monitoring the color of the urine and if it's clear in color, to avoid drinking water for a while
and maybe add some electrolyte drinks?
The only reason I came across this was in the back of my subconscious mind, someone told me on this forum you can die from drinking too much water.
and yesterday, I looked at an article which I can't find now that mentions that Bruce Lee might have also passed because of drinking too much water.
I thought he was joking to an extreme to make a point
Too much water? This might be something I will casually look for on youtube 1 day I told myself
Here's are 2 intersting link (follows)

I wouldnt worry about it. Regards to the bruce lee dieing because drinking water thats just someones opinion and a willd guess, not a fact. He did die because of cerebral edema i think but i have never heard of it linked to his water consumption.

So the problem may occur although extremely rare when drinking too much water all at once.
Although I was far from that, there was a time when I'd drink 1 liter in 5 minutes to get all my water consumption during the day
cos I'd be out driving 3 hours later (after 3 hours time worth to urinate) on the hwy where it would be inconvenient for me to use the restroom
from my research, i've also found that a remedy in the case of headaches coming on is to eat something salty
Sodium is a tie in to alleviating this problem
In fact, electrolyte drinks like gatorade may be important to add to a heavy water regimen
as always, hope my niceguyresearch helps not only me, but others similarly situated....

A lot of people think Bruce Lee died of heat stroke (which was made more probable by the surgery he had to prevent arm pit sweating)

I don't even know if somebody could maintain life drinking only 1 liter of water per day.
In almost every single case it's ever happened, you pretty much have to do something stupid like enter yourself in a water drinking contest or be doing something like MDMA in order to die from drinking water. In fact, most people (especially people who train) don't drink enough water. I don't mean to say something like overhydration isn't real, because it is and there are real symptoms of it, but you're not going to be suffering from those symptoms, because you don't drink enough for it to happen.
I can guarantee if you google the symptoms for any condition, your mind can do enough mental gymnastics to make you think you're suffering from that ailment. That doesn't mean you actually are.
A average person who doesn't train should be drinking a minimum of 2.7 liters of water a day. If you workout, do anything physical or if the temperature is hot out, then you need way more than that.
