Sweet home Chicago: A discussion / analysis of American youth.

Came across this news tidbit, while I was having my morning coffee. I couldn't believe what the hell was going on in the downtown district of the Windy City; WTH... Take a quick look at the article, it is rather short. Where the hell were these kids parents when these, what appear to be teenagers, were growing up? THIS to me is the genesis of the problem. If you are interested; again the comments section is pretty good (Better than the article itself.). From my perspective, viewing this from halfway around the world, I would guess that this is only the first "youth riot" as this incident, as it gains publicity, will spawn perhaps several copy cat incidents...

I agree with lovbyts, only gonna get worse.
And it isn't a black thing (thread lock engaged) or a white thing; as I watched the clip, there appears to be quite a cross section of Chicagoans represented here.

Perhaps the police should shoot several of them, in an effort to dissuade them and their criminal delinquent activities...

im so glad Im out of Chicago. I was in Logan square and did really well on condo but been out of there for 6 years.

its going to get so much worse there. the new mayor could be the single worst mayor ever.

terror dome is what Chicago south side is already, now it will swallow the whole city.

fuck em all, let them drown in what they create.

Being sarcastic of course here Xnavy. But “only” 2 shot? No deaths? A few injuries? Sounds like damn good parenting to me .

We have street takeovers weekly here, but don’t GAF because it ain’t in my nice neighborhood.

Hell, it was Saturday night and it’s finally Spring after a long ugly, Chicago winter. Hell it’s why I moved to this nirvana called Los Angeles.

Going from what my kids had told me for several years, the stories I heard regarding what teens are allowed now will make you legitimately surprised that there aren’t more shootings, injuries, deaths, car accidents, pregnancies or STD’s.

As another member rightfully said; it’s just going to keep getting worse.

You can always move to sweet home Alab . . . . Nah won’t go there

Another great Xnavy thread, you picked up right where Davi left off and greatly appreciate it.

    Caused by:

    Lack of proper parenting
    Single parent households (fatherless)
Criminal justice failures - lack of prosecution (think Soros funded DA's)
    Bail Reform
Lack of aggressive enforcement by law enforcement (caused by CJ failures and abilities being limited)
    And so on....

They seem to like it, give them more.

The solution is simple. The good people just need to leave and start over somewhere else. This time, be a little wiser on who they allow among them.

These guys are bad dudes and they want to kill each other. So let them.

Couldn’t agree with you more. Only thing, is these were kids doing “spring break” type shit. Check out their recent shenanigans in Miami. No excuse, but it’s where kids are at today, thanks to the parenting & social media - to hell in a hen basket.

Like what ya said, the wife & I are good people & us and our neighbors are quite wise (and particular) in who we allow among us.

    Wise words HK.

Beat you to it, brother Blues.

I agree with all of the above posts.

Interestingly "futuristic" solution proposed by Honkey_Kong; wall off the South Side, pump utilities in their (gas, electricity, water) and well; "let mother nature do the rest".

Interestingly (but not at all shocking) enough, Pres. Obama (I know... I am striving for the coveted title of The Most Locked Threads", but I assure "the powers that be" that, this is in no way a political statement.) was quoted as saying that, "Chicago is a beautiful place to live..."; he didn't move his family to the South Side...

In the comments section of the above article, numerous posts were advocating for the prosecution and punishment of the parents; while I may or may not agree with that; in my mind it doesn't smack much of American justice. I am by no means a lawyer, although I could perhaps qualify, if one were to calculate all the time I have spent embroiled in legal issues... Also, many posters mentioned reinstituting corporal punishment in the schools, religion and of course the root cause of the problem; bad parenting (Or no parenting at all.). I would agree with all of these. Wango brought up "...thanks to the parenting & social media...", the social media culture in which we live; I would say that this is also a factor/

It is a shame that we cannot have an open discussion here in The Anabolic Lounge, for risk of closure, because a frank and open discussion, in my view, is the only way to debate the issue...

Ive been trying to find this study I read a few years ago that explains how every 4 or 5 generations things go to sh*t because after a war or crisis/famine each generation after that get more worse. The 1st generation usually works harder to provide for their future and kids future, the next one does less because a lot has been provided for them and life is easier and the next generation thinks/feels this is just how life is so they start to complain about everything that is not just given to them until it all falls apart and there is another big war and it starts all over. It usually last 4 or 5 generations before it repeats.

As Trump said ‘Everything woke turns to shit’.

Nothing worse than living in a shithole democrat city. Just a bunch of degenerates who don't respect personal property, self determination and personal responsibility.

They reckon after 3 generations a family loses its wealth. The grandad generally grew up poor and struggled during his life and he becomes rich through dome business venture. The son continues the business having being raised by his father and possibly seeing some of his fathers adversity. Then the grandkids having only known a life on easy street no nothing about the world and take the money for granted.

Except Trump is just as "woke" as those people he claims are. And his sycophants just look the other way when he does woke shit. I really don't want to get in to some political debate with a foreigner about US politics, but don't think his shit doesn't stink too.

Cofraud and the vax happened under Donnie's watch. Being on house arrest happened on his watch too. You like guns? Donnie took away your bump stocks.

You want to talk about people who don't respect personal property? Nobody in the US has used "eminent domain" more to fvuk people out of their property than Donnie Dipshit has. And that's absolutely true. Self-determination and personal responsibility must also include Rothschild bailouts to the tune of nearly $4 billion? Don't worry, he made the Rothschild banker that brokered that deal the secretary of the treasury dept in his administration.

No I think the good people (There are a lot more of us than them) need to round up the bad people and send them somewhere else.

As things get worse good people are going to be forced to do bad things.

I had always heard that is how Australia was colonized. It started out as a Penal colony. I dont know if there is any truth to it.

It has been discussed, but those that can't follow the rules now wouldn't have the self-discipline to keep it in the correct area let alone follow the rules.

Example, a members posts a thread with disclaimer that it will be taken down in record time, there's not a chance in hell they have the discipline to follow the rules.

Edit: Think about it. If they felt the thread was likely to be taken down in record time, they knew the context was likely to not fall within acceptable content.

Also, guys let's leave the political references out of this. I take no great joy in having to lock threads.

This Spring Break crap has been going on for decades. In many places it’s tolerated because of the huge amount of $ it brings to a region (capitalism reigns supreme).

It seems like it’s a right of passage for these past decades of kids to be able to raise hell, almost because it’s their right because of the grind they are in these days (I’m not saying that’s right). I bet most of those kids will end up leading very successful lives and contribute well to society.

Parties/gatherings are just no longer “word of “mouth”. Social media creates these massive events. I honestly was shocked at seeing how little gun play and how few of injuries there were considering the size of the crowd.

Just a suggestion my polish brother from another mother; to start picking out cities (or states) and make even the slightest suggestion that you are generalizing them, tends to get ugly

Like I said, you are carrying Davi’s torch nicely, lol. Now it’s time to have some real enjoyment and read the morning paper; I’m thinking today is the day that the entire world decides to have a coke and live in harmony.

As I am sure you are aware, the USA consisted of self governing colonies that become states under a federated government. Australia was exactly the same.

The British sent over 50 thousand convicts to America but after The Revolutionary War started sending them to the Colony of New South Wales what would be known later as Australia.

    Yes this is all true.

The lockdowns were mostly brought about from the states which Trump could do very little about.

Trump was gullible and believed that operation warp speed was a good thing. But he was lied to about the dangers of the vaccine.

The bump stock ban was fucked and it looks like the courts will throw it out. He listened to the knobs at the ATF about that. Coming from New York he knows very little about guns.

He is not a perfect man, he is very brash, crude, gullible and to trusting of people. The media lied about him his whole term and he had countless numbers of traitors try to backstab him. He was a force of sanity for the world.

I added “lol” which in many usages is suggestive of being sarcastic. I apologize if you got confused, but understand your post.

Regrettably just read the paper, looks like the world ain’t ready for a coke, smile, & harmony. However, spoke to my broker and things are turning around, happy days.

    byts, RIGHT THE FUCK ON...!!!

I picture it now: the No Holds Barred, BARE KNUCKLE BRAWLERS ROOM...

It would most probably garner quite a following; hell, ADMIN could utilize the space as a dumping ground for "hot" threads... I am outside of the loop of knowledge and experience here on the forum, but in my limited experience and perspective, I think it could work.

    Great

Already been discussed. Probably not going to happen. Notice I didn't say it wasn't going to happen , but it probably wont.
If the rules for the forum now can't be followed, then there's no chance that people can follow rules to contain their rants to one area.

Now this shit sincerely makes me laugh, seriously. Trying to figure out who was who in the pic, but the substitute got the better of the exchange by winning the grappling portion of the altercation. Sign her up for MMA, I think there’s a contract waiting for her, especially if she’s the small one.

24 years ago I did substitute work for 6 months to see if teaching is really what I wanted to switch back to; it is not for the light hearted. But it’s almost like gladiator school & a necessary experience to live through depending on the population that you are going to teach full-time. Kudos to that substitute teacher from that article!

Yeah that is basically it on a simplified version. This was a little longer explaining a few more reasons for it and it made a lot of sense but yeah, basically.

My concern is the contempt between individuals would pour over into the other forums and most likely cause more conflict so it probably wouldn't be worth it.
