    Ever been screwed $$ bad?

Two years ago I was screwed out of $245k, it’s been the toughest thing I’ve ever had to accept.
Still trying to accept it, the things I want to do to this person would turn anyone’s stomach!

I recently came across a quote by Arnold, it basically said it’s not how hard you hit it’s how hard you can get hit and get back up that makes a person.

The juries still out for me, maybe with time I will be able to get back up.

To some it might not be a lot of $ but for me it was my life savings.

I’m fortunate that I have a great family that trumps any amount of money! At the same time it has hurt them as well, that’s the hardest part of it all!

I think that quote was from the Rocky Balboa movie. But You got my interest here. Give us the story of how you lost that kind of money.

So 15 years ago I invested in a piece of property. It was recreational farmland, main purpose being hunting.

About five years ago this prick bought 360 acres of the same type of property which surrounded me on three sides. immediately wanted to buy my piece so that he could square off his pc

I didn’t really want to sell when he first came to me nor did I need to sell, but the guy just kept insulting me and talking down to me and telling me the property wasn’t worth anything blah blah blah

Anyway, few years goes by he approaches me numerous times to buy my piece and we were 45K off on price

So the fall just before Covid my mom fell sick with stomach and throat cancer. I decided to go to Austin Texas and help my sister with mom.
This meant me quitting work in the long and short of it is I fell behind on the payments on the mortgage, but found a buyer that wanted to give me what I was asking 245

We signed a purchase agreement. Covid came in my buyers Businesses were shut down due to Covid, and he backed out of the deal

My buyers businesses got opened back up and he signed a second contract with me and everything was going along well shortly after that

This prick neighbor found out I had it sold and erected an 8 foot game fence, completely surrounding my property cutting off any kind of game especially the deer movement

My buyer was buying it to hunt deer with his kids so when I told him about the fence that was being built, he backed out of the contract. My mom was in bad shape at this point and not much time left.

The bank came in foreclosed on me and sold the property at a sheriff sale to the prick neighbor. I got nothing.

I’ve already been to jail once over this and strapped to a concrete bed for eight hours, so I’m trying to stay out of prison at least for now

Not to continue rambling on on this subject, but
he put a restraining order against me after I told him what he had coming
I then broke the restraining order and seven unmarked police vehicles surrounded my house while I was sleeping on my couch. They searched my house for weapons after putting me in the car and found nothing. They were definitely trying to intimidate me a sniper came out of the woods behind my house as they were walking me to the car.
At the time I was 54 never been in trouble with the law EVER!
I lost all respect for them that day!
I realize they were only doing their job, but they went too far!
    Keep hammering the little guy!

    Two things

First, it sounds like you need to find the right attorney.

Second, quit giving them things to use against you. You may have painted yourself as the bad guy here, stop making threats and what not or it may become true.

Not making any threats chief, I did an I paid my time for it.
I’m sure you sincerely mean well, I don’t see how you can say I’m the bad guy.
But if that’s what you think then you have the right to ur opinion.
I just wanted to sell my property and he interfered.
I may have been too vocal on this forum on the subject. I know not everyone is a bad guy.
And that includes law-enforcement, Explain to me what you would have done and I asked that you literally put yourself in my shoes.
Remember the point of my mom in this situation.

My apologies to anyone that reads this or has read this that I may have offended. I’m not a bad person. I’m a very giving, selfless, loving, red blooded, law-abiding, taxpayer, and honest.
I will move on from this site. Good luck to all. Thanks for the help that I have gotten from everyone here.

real talk, what would hiring an attorney do. Sounds like the old boy got played buy a much smarter/ scummy person. Sounds like he had a plan and played the long game and the OP fell right into it.
I agree it sucks, but sounds like he did not cause the OP to default, he was just there to pick up the pieces.

I do not agree with what happened, but I don't think he stole the property, he got a hell of a deal on it.

Damn, that’s a tough story. That said, as scummy as the neighbor sounds; he didn’t really do anything wrong, except being an a-hole.

Is there a law there that prohibits the movement of the wildlife in their natural habitat, thus making the fence a violation?

Man you had a streak of shitty circumstances, I could see how you could focus on this dickhead, but you just make the guy seem like the victim here (to the law) if you keep making threats.

Sorry but people get the short end of the stick every day, many get scammed, many lose their life savings. I ain’t making light of it; it sucks.

I wish you well and it’s easy for me to just say, you gotta let it go, but man, that’s just what you gotta do so you can live out your remaining years in a positive way and with some happiness.

How’s the mom? Are you working? Got a decent place to live, a car, etc. Social security ain’t a lot, but assumably you’ll get benefits in about a decade.

Really wish you well, f’n bad hand of cards got dealt to you.

First off, chief, I didn't call you the bad guy. I said you may have painted yourself as one. See what I put in bold up there? When a judge sees that, without having been there, it isn't going to put you in a good light.

Just look at what you said:
There was a restraining order on me
    I broke it
I threatened the subject of my restraining order
The police came out in force

I'm not saying what they did was right, or that you aren't in the right, or making any moral judgements. I'm just saying that if a judge looks at those facts alone, it won't make you look good.

Maybe nothing, but the RIGHT attorney can make all the difference in the world. I hate to see the the guy that built the spite fence win, but it sounds like that is where it is.

First hand experience on the difference between 'an' attorney and 'the right attorney'. YMMV

I’d like to step in here and say, can we hold off on the “chief” references? They are extremely disrespectful to the native Americans/indigenous people that suffered. Let’s keep the conversation respectful without bringing harmful and offensive language into the picture.

I agree with you 100% on the principle here, but have trouble with the practical aspect/s.

There was a time, not so long ago when you could disappear a deserving dirt-bag (be that individual male or female); and as long as the authorities couldn't find a body, they couldn't pin a murder charge on you. In recent times (I am guessing about the last 20 yrs) the courts are convicting people of murder sans a corpse, just on the preponderance of circumstantial evidence, thus securing a conviction for the state.

Looks like nowadays you just gotta be really lucky to beat law enforcement, especially when it comes to investigating a capital offence; the investigative powers of LE have vastly outstripped the abilities of culprits to evade capture. Sadly (I am talking here about a person who truly deserves to reside in the dirt.), one can no longer "alligator" another and be assured of his / her freedom.

After reading the entire thread, especially the portions where the OP mentioned his threats and his violation of the court's RO; he better not dump this guy in the Everglades or on his uncles pig farm, because he will be the first person that LO grabs when his neighbor goes MIA.

Well let see, last wife screwed me out of a little over 300K in a short time.
Thanks to a stock manipulation scam on a penny stock I had been trading for a few months it cost me initially about 60K that cost me an additional 150K within the week. I eventually got about 50K back.
1st wife cost me 100ks over a few years thanks to her coke addiction and me not giving up on her sooner.
Im sure there are many others. If I was paid back just the money I have loaned to people I could go out and buy a new Ferrari tomorrow I bet. Thats life. Dont cry over spilled milk or go do something about it.
