    Cold baths.

I was wondering if anyone used cold baths? And what was the experience like? It’s supposed to help with recovery, inflammation, mental health.
I’m thinking of giving it a go.

We always hear about celebrities and athletes doing it, but don't know anyone who does it personally.

This is a study of a bunch of other studies and goes into a lot, if you have the time or patience:

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9518606/

Maybe try an experiment for a couple of months and see how it goes? Then you can say it went really well or pretend it went really well and have us all taking cold baths.

If you do give it a try for a few months, could you keep a daily log for us?

Fuck me test that was a long read

It looks like the studies done seemed to be a lot colder than what I’m doing 16c or 60f. I think the water will get colder as the outside temperature drops to.

I’m going to give it a go for three months. Three times a week and see if it’s beneficial or just a waste of time.

I’ve started keeping a log in my training post. I thought it would be easier than starting a new one.

But I could absolutely update in here maybe weekly or bi-monthly.

I done my first one last night. And nothing so far, so it might take some time before I notice anything.

Edit. Do you think it would be better to keep a separate log?

I used to have the record at my leisure centre, I spent 20mins up to my neck in 6.5 degree celsius water (43.7 fahrenheit).

Then a guy did 25. Then a guy did 30.

Look into Huberman Labs or Gary Brecka on cold therapy on youtube, etc. It's "supposedly" comaparable to the dopamine hit one gets from cocaine (without the subsequent crash) if done at the right temp for the right amount of time.

Yeah I've gotten shots of euphoria in the ice bath . . . the lights go brighter in the room and you feel fizzely tingles going up through you. I'm not sure but that might be the brain releasing endorphins.

There are several studies show it is 100% effective with certain mental health issues if you stay submerged for over 5 minutes with no breathing apparatus. I can pretty much guarantee you it will help.

I know from personal experience that Ice therapy works better than most anything for inflammation. 2 back surgeries, 2 shoulder surgeries in addition to both shoulders having full replacement.

I think switching back and for between hot and cold is more to help with minor sprains and tension as well as muscle therapy.

It is cool tho because u you harden your body, not so often get sick and you don't need to drink pills constantly like I do which I buy at the transgender outlet. Remember guy, If you are sick, never save money on medicines, buy in the right pharmacies, even if they may be more expensive. Health to all

Yeah but if you pamper yourself like that regularly, it makes you soft.

I have a nice sudsy hot shower once in a while, typically after a half-marathon. It's a nice little treat after a half-marathon.

The use of cold baths can help reduce muscle soreness, after intense exercise. Cold temperatures constrict blood vessels and reduce metabolic activity, which can help limit the inflammatory response. So I try to use it every time to help relieve pain. Cold water immersion is thought to improve recovery by shortening the time it takes for muscles to recover. I even ordered myself an ada bathroom sign from bsign-store.com to remember the health benefits of cold baths every time.
