Wierd health day after cold plunge
Yesterday i went swimming in the sea. The air was -15 celsius or something and sea water was 2 degrees celsius. I went in 3 times, for like 30 sec each time, and sat in the sauna in between. Ive only done winter swimming once before and it was 10 years ago.
SO today i feel like little cold all day, in places where im never cold. But no biggie. In the evening i go to the gym, i start incline benching and usually when i do incline bench i sweat minorly only, but today, i was dripping in cold sweat, my hands were shaking abit and head was dizzy. At one point when i was like squatting down between exercises and wanted to stand up i even was afraid i might pass out for a second. It got abit better by the end of the workout, but still felt wierd abit after and till i went o sleep. I just woke up so lets see what the day brings.
But anyone any ideas or had similar expirience? Abit scary for me because cold sweat, dizzyness, shortness of breath like how i felt can indicate heart problems. Maybe my old ex drug addict heart is not meant to be cold plunging lolLast edited by s1nc1ty; 01-15-2024 at 10:25 PM.

This is what chat gpt gave me as one of possibilities, but i dont know how plausible it is :
Dehydration: Cold water immersion can sometimes lead to increased urine output, potentially contributing to dehydration. Dehydration, especially when combined with exercise, can lead to dizziness, sweating, and shaking.
I drank a beer while i was in the sauna and didnt drink much water probably that day and the next day either, I dont know if this might have lead to the kind of dehydration that made me feel like that when i started working out. Because i felt wierd as fuck that must have been some serious dehydration then

Two or three times a year, I travel to Germany to go to a thermal spring, where they've built 27 saunas with a steam room and a pool bar and restaurants.
I usually go there for about 5 or 6 days, and sometimes I go from the 100 degree (212 fahrenheit) sauna and then straight into the cold water plunge pool.
Some days I overdid it in the cold. If you stay in it for long enough, it's like the cold gets inside you and you just totally lose all your bravado. No matter how long you spend in the sauna afterward, you still just feel cold.
Sounds like the cold got inside you yesterday. If I were you I'd go for a 12-hour sleep. Go to bed at 6pm and get up the next morning at 6am.
