A few of his IG posts had me thinking that was his target. Maybe he saw he could save 505 for another time or something felt off?

At his height that is a looong pull. Granted he has arm reach, but still a long pull!

It looked like his pec was giving him a lot of problem throughout the event. But even if it wasn't, Hooper was pretty unbeatable this weekend.

Absolutely! He really kicked the door open when he made it to the upper level contests.

Edit: Good point about Hafthor's pec repair. He was looking like it was a non issue on IG, but I imagine a tweak/fatigue from the cumulative effect of pre-contest could have made him think twice.
The guy and his wife had a rough go the past year or so. Losing a child and then the pec tear.

You could really see it with th axel lift. Thor had no problem with his right arm getting it up, his left didn't want to work with him though

Yeah when he pulled that without any effort, I knew for sure he could've gone for the record. But yeah him and Eddie Hall are the best deadlifters ever.

For my money, the GOAT is still Ed Coan. Pulling 901 at 220 pounds in just a singlet and belt, basically raw by todays standards?

Hafthor / Hall pulling 1100 at 400+ pounds IS impressive, no doubt though. Jesus, that's a lot of weight.

Of course, I think Coan was pulling sumo at the time, and is only 5'6", so the bar did only have to come up like maybe a foot lol

Ed is definetly the king. I just aint a fan of the sumo pull. His squat was the most impressive lift imho. Being short, and pulling sumo gives the lifter a huge advantage. Nothing to discredit the lifts just the biomechanics make it easier for some

Man, I was just an enthralled kid! Saw and met so many of the icons on that trip. I've talked about it here before. Our plane was late out of Philly due to snow and we got to the events main hotel about 4 hours late. Lady behind the counter said we gave your room away due to being so late. We're like WTF and she said hold on. Came back a minute later and said you have the last available room and gave us each a key. Said to use it in the elevator and put it in above the room buttons, turn it and then press your room button. We had not clue but it was to prevent people from getting to that level.

We were put on the penthouse level in a smaller penthouse with all the dignitaries. Arnold, Maria, Franco, Jim lorimer and so on. There was a large free breakfast room there and we would see all of them there throughout the day. Was amazing. Felt so out of place but it's a memory I'll never forget. Cool stuff.
