Tattoos and breaks from working out
All right guys, once again looking for wise advice...
In a few weekends I am going to start getting a tribal sleeve done on my arm. It's going to go up over my shoulder onto my chest down to about my nipple, and over to my back to about the bottom of my shoulder blade....
The question is, have any of you had something like this done, and did the tenderness of getting the ink keep you from the gym? I have had smaller work done, but nothing over joints or major muscles like that. Any advice? (bdtr has *got* to have some experience here!)

I'm former USN. And I got 5 tattoos. Take a week off from the gym after getting some fresh ink. Sweating can cause the ink to leak. No bullshit.
The tattoo on my right bicep kinda faded at the top because of the constant PT I was doing at my "A" school. Oh well. I'll just get it touched up once I get my tribal cross on my left bicep.

Right now i have both arms sleeved, my chest/sternum done, doing my ribs/side soon and other stuff... Nothing has kept me outta the gym more than two days max and I have over 80 hours of work done on me. Just take a day or two off or work legs etc..

Actually the only thing that kept me outta the gym more than 3 days was the 8 hours of work on my inner bicep, it sucks being big and getting tattooed, takes forever!

The back of my head hurt bad, real bad. Especially for a tattoo i regretted like 20 minutes after getting and just grew my hair back in anyway.

Damn... I would never go for the head. I can only imagine not only the pain the the "buzzzzzzzzzing" sound ringing thru my skull the whole time.

It was a "divorce" present for my ex wife who was taking me to the cleaners. Two crossed surpressed 9mm's, a wedding ring in a pool of blood and a banner that said "out of court settlement"

I have a big back piece, and both delts done and was in the gym the next day after every sitting. Just make sure if it scabs up that you don't start knocking them off.

I have two matching ones behind each shoulder. One for each of my buddies who died last semester. One had an aneurysim after a workout and the other one's heart stopped from a drinking/pills combo. Just a little memory of people I grew up with that didnt make it.

you can lift, just make sure to keep it really moist so the scabs don't crack. I have plenty and it never kept me outta the gym. I have 2 half sleeves and the inner bicep wasn't too bad IMO... it all depends on the artist's touch, some guys press too hard which is unecessary.
