"Ladies and gentlemen, we got him," L. Paul Bremer told a news conference.

It is great that he is in custody...but I would rather he had meet the same fate as his 2 sons.

I can't fully express my feelings on this. I'm elated, to say the very least.
Now what happens? There will be an Iraqi tribunal to decide his fate. I guess we will be providing the security for him until his fate is decided. Looks like we will have a ton of Delta around this guy. Delta is trained in personal protection, they gladly give their life for duty and honor, but would the guys do so to protect this criminal? I hope not!

He was captured in a hole with rats...Is that poetic justice or what?? He had a pistol and never used it, just gave up without a fight after he used to say that we would never take him alive or without a fight. Up yours you coward!!!!!!!!!!

4 more years of Bush are going to happen anyway - Saddam or not.
Now if we are smart - we will let the Iraqi people try him in this new war crimes bit and bring him to "justice" - heaven help him then - because I assure you he will get faaaaaaaaar less mercy from them

Well Cycleon, I certainly hope they would F*** him up if he was tried by the Iraqi people. My only concern is will they be afraid to do it in a sense that they will be scared to do it because of all the guerilla attacks that will happen in Iraq from Saddam supporters? There has already been a car bomb set of in front of the Palestine hotel. And if anyones pays attention to history, the same thing happened with Hitler. There were guerilla attacks from his supporters for a while after his death. The same is gonna happen with Saddam. Will the Iraqi people be too afraid to do anything knowing that there are still supporters there??

moreover, the video showing his capture will give the lie to all those in the arab world who wanted to think that he was a brave one - arabs are such dillusional dramatists - darn it the gotta get rid of tht victim mentality - well, hopefully Iraq will get its chance

Did you see the Iraqi's celebrating in the streets. You have to feel for them. The burden that has been lifted of their shoulders must be enormous. This is very big, but in the long run it is probably more important that we capture bin Laden. Also, hopefully the capture of Saddam will lead to intelligence that directs us to sites of the production of WMD's.

and he is cooperating too - imagine that! LOL Mostly because I am sure we are telling him that if he doesnt we will turn him over to the Iraqis early - ones whose familiys were raped and murdered by him - would probably gleen such info as needed with scrotal torments that even Nathan could not imagine
and BG - you might want to think about Beyond questioneth, since I do not ever remember coming across that particular phrase in modestly copious readings of romantic era and elisibethian literature

The only thing that scares me a lot now in Irak is that Ayatolahs and Mulahs are taking over power everywhere... next thing you know they'll have an Islamic law government in Irak, just like Iran...
I am not sure that is such a good thing or if it's better than Saddam in any ways...

Well I just hope they give him a speedy trial and not drag this out for Political reasons...despite wars (especially this one) being centered around politics...I am sure the French/Liberals/Lefties and their kind will come to this guys aid..he is just a poor, deposed, victimized tyrant..do what needs to be done- quickly!

they say around "6 months". Will probably not seek the death penility because they want information in exchange for his life. I also beleive it is not up to the U.S.A to decide saddams fait. It should and will be left up to Iraq and its people.

Whats even more halarious is an Al-Jazeera reporter questioned why would the US flash him as a POW on TV when we uproared over Al-J posting pics of dead US soldiers on the website and arab news. Like we're hipocrits or something.
OH EXCUSE US!!!
