All it is a pain killer...it's a legal drug and is safe if used in moderation.

Sure it is great for killing pain, but the addiction that comes with it is stupid. There are preachers down here that have been taken to jail because of their addiction to it.

Regardless of what you think about the drug, the loss of a life to addiction is a tragedy. I'm sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear that bro. It's not fair to blame the drug though. They need to crack down on the drug dealers and docters giving out the prescriptions.

I hate that crap. I'm sure it has it's uses, but it seems too many get out of control too quick.
I hate to hear that someone else has lost thier battle.

That stuff is great for terminally ill patients. It is also good when used for someone with a seriously debilitating injury...back injury or the like. Unfortunately, some docs over-write for the stuff...resulting in an addiction for the person using it. One of the worst problems is the way the body builds a tolerance to the drug...it does not take long for you to need double the dose to achieve the same effect. Soon, you are addicted and taking insane amounts.
I am deeply sorrowed by your loss Xavier, as well as the others who have lost someone to this drug. It is so sad that this happens to good people.

Sorry to hear your loss. about the debate about blame, the only blame is on the person taking the drug, anyone using anything today, knows the effects and addictive qualities of the substance they abuse, and they choose to abuse it, you get out what you put in, with everything in life, if you dont do drugs you wont die from them. its a horrible tragedy that ppl can become addicted to anything and that it can harm you, but sadly thats the way the world is.

Keep narcotics in the hospital. Only administer the drug in the hospital. If you need a pain killer, come to a nearest hospital or clinic and get it done there. I know that Kentucky has a home health program that allows for RN's to deliver care to patients at home. I believe that this will really stop the dealer aspect but we still need to find a way from doctors being money hungry and hand them out left and right.

Oxycotin seems to be the common denominator in many news stories lately...
