teeth help
Has anyone ever heard of your teeth and gums shifting with weight loss or weight gain? Afriend whos a dental higenist (sp) told me that could be the cause of the slight shifting in my teeth... Im ANAL about my teeth... anyone a dentist.. or studying to be one??? (cb25???) What should/can be done about this??
Thanks!!!

I would be interested to hear an answer on this. Doesn't seem like they could be related but who knows.

i'm not sure on this, but let me see what i can do...if i can't figure it out, i may be able to find an answer for ya
what exactly do you mean by shifting? are the gums receding? or are the teeth themselves moving somehow?
i don't see the relation (but then again...i know very little about real dentistry stuff yet...but i do know a little).

no discomfort, and I can only tell that they are moving because as I said.. Im ANAL about my teeth. My canines (the pointy ones) on the botton are turning and pushing the front 4 around... the 2 in the very front are starting to move a little bit outwards...
Like I said.. this is not noticeable to the naked eye, but I stare at them for hours a day.. so it is a bother to me!!!
Thanks cb I would be greatful if you could find anything out

this may seem odd, but when im on AS my wisdom teeth push out more causeing alot of pain, but when im off i feel nothing, but like now where i am, they are comeing alot more but they are causeing me to bite down on my gums and jaw, so im chewing a hole in my gums. So what sux is i have to have them pulled fri, and ill be out of commision for a couple days, no gym. also another thing that happens to me while on is facial hair grows ALOT more, i can shave in the morning and have a 5 o clock shadow by that even. kinda messed up

To tell you the truth, I don't know anything about this sort of thing. But I do think you should set up an appointment with your hygenist friend if you haven't already. If you are worried that they are moving, maybe while you are there you could talk to a dentist about it. Maybe a retainer would help?
Good luck and keep us posted!

i have heard of it, but have no idea how to correct it, if you had dentures that would be easy to fix..lol

ok, a couple things.
you said you don't have and have never had wisdom teeth. did the dentist tell you they were congenitally missing -- or have you just never seen them -- if they're there, it's never too late for them to start causing probs...and you could never even know you had them.
second, are the teeth loose at all?
i'm really not sure so far, but i'll see what i can do talking to some people. it may be something you can't help...but make sure it's something that's noticeable to somebody else before you start even considering worrying about braces, retainers, etc...you'll be fine.
And worse case scenario - if you do, it sounds like a hellofa mild case, so you'd probably be able to get the invisible braces, or the ones that go on behind the teeth...no one would be able to tell...and you'd get your perfect teeth, even more perfect

no the dentist said i dont have any even under my gums.. and my teeth arent lose either
this sonds so horrle, but it doesnt matter to me if someone can see it, it only matter if I know its happeneing.
I have porciline (sp?) caps on all of my front top teeth cause i had scarlet fever when I was 4 and have intenions on them.. noone else could see them, but i knew they were there...
IM SO VAIN!!!! im sorry!!! help me!!!

try this..
gain all the weight back...if your teeth go back to where they were, then you know the shifting is weight loss related...
then go lose all the weight again...
once i lost so much weight my clothes didnt fit anymore...and my nieghbor told me i needed to buy some clothes that fit...i told him i didnt have any money so i was just going to gain all the weight back to make my clothes fit... same concept but with your teeth...

hey princess...update - i've been stuck in the radiology clinic all week with very little access to real dentists...mostly student dentists, hygienists and radiology specialists...and none of them had anything helpful for me...
if i get the chance, i'll snag one of the docs tomorrow during break...
