Olive oil is also really good for ya! Shake - choc protein, banana, 1 tbl spoon peanut butter, cottage cheese! Put lots of milk in coz its too thick if you don't.If its PWO I like to add a tablespoon of honey, although its a little too sweet for me then!
Very informative thread, by the way!

i just started making them yesterday. it seams i have to wack it back on the blender about 3 times to stir up all the oats that settle in the bottom. its rather thick and when im getting full its hard to stomach. and im only using 1cup of oats and full cream milk. i do it like this
2 cups full cream milk
2 scoops whey protien
3 egg whites
1cup whole oats
drop of honey
its not too bad. i reckon about 800cal 50-60grams protien.
nice quick meal. cheers for the idea

Powerbars protein plus gives you 38 gr of carbs and 24 gr of protein with only 5 gr of fat. -A d*mn good ratio while at work or on the go.
I use fibre one cereal in my shakes; 1/2 a cup provides 54% of the USRDA of fiber, we need that too...
I mix in cottage cheese with my pasta and chili, sounds strange? Try it a couple of times. You can eat stuff that would be considered too high in carbs otherwise but that are now balanced out by the high protein content of cottage cheese. Use that in place of ricotta in a lasagna and use the low carb pasta with ground sirloin, you're looking at over 100 grams of protein in a seating.
What ratios are you shooting for while on a cycle?
I try for 3-400 gr protein 500 gr carbs and . 50 gr of fat and that's at 215 lbs.

i have two simple recipes that i use when i bulk (adjust the carb/protein/fat ratio as required):
a)
1.5 cup of unprocessed oats
50g of ON whey chocolate flavour
1 tablespoon crunchy peanut butter
blend with water
best to drink from shaker so you can prevent too many of the oat bits settling at the bottom.
b)
1 cup cooked brown rice
50g On whey chocolate flavour
1.5 tablespoons of crunchy peanut butter
1/4 cup of skimmed milk
blend with a little extra water
dont add to many fluids, this is best eaten as a thick rice pudding.
ON nutrition whey is the only powder ive found to taste something like real chocolate, so it mixes well with other foods. shame i have to get it shipped from the states though...
[someone mentioned something about a complex carb powder, its just plain old malto-dextrin, i'd much prefer to use oats in its place]

Another thread where I mention that I also use about 6 12 eggs a day and I have never gotten sick from them.
You can not taste them in the blender if you mix them with stuff.
70 calories per egg.

The Journal of Nutrition Vol. 128 No. 10 October 1998, pp. 1716-1722
Egg proteins contribute substantially to the daily nitrogen allowances in Western countries and are generally considered to be highly digestible. However, information is lacking on the true ileal digestibility of either raw or cooked egg protein. The recent availability of stable isotope-labeled egg protein allowed determination of the true ileal digestibility of egg protein by means of noninvasive tracer techniques. Five ileostomy patients were studied, once after ingestion of a test meal consisting of 25 g of cooked 13C- and 15N-labeled egg protein, and once after ingestion of the same test meal in raw form. Ileal effluents and breath samples were collected at regular intervals after consumption of the test meal and analyzed for 15N- and 13C-content, respectively. The true ideal digestibility of cooked and raw egg protein amounted to 90.9% (cooked) and 51.3% (raw) respectively. A significant negative correlation (r = 0.92, P < 0.001) was found between the 13C-recovery in breath and the recovery of exogenous N in the ileal effluents. In summary, using the 15N-dilution technique we demonstrated that the assimilation of cooked egg protein is efficient, albeit incomplete, and that the true ileal digestibility of egg protein is significantly enhanced by heat-pretreatment. A simple 13C-breath test technique furthermore proved to be a suitable alternative for the evaluation of the true ileal digestibility of egg protein........
"The true ideal digestibility of cooked and raw egg protein amounted to 90.9% (cooked) and 51.3% (raw) respectively"
case closed?
