I did a search and found other posts about price checks on other gear...did AR change there policies on price checks or something??

AR never changed any policy's. the only reason you did a search and stuff came up was because idiots asked without knowing just like you and other people replied, and the topic never got deleted.

I am not looking for product/sources I def don't need this...I was just looking for ballpark prices on what some guys were paying for this particular product but since that's to big of a problem, then just forget it

And I don't see anything about posting prices in that rules thread, but for other reasons, I feel that they shouldn't be posted.
It lets sources start threads saying "hey...is $50 too much to pay for..." and then when they get PM's asking where they get (whatever item) for $50, they "refer" the sender of the PM to their own e-mail account. As KM said , it leaves the doors open to too many things, this being one of them.

I do, however see a "no flaming" policy in the rules thread...
