Will 2.5 mg of finasteride help against hairloss from 900mg of test

I have run a few test (up to 700mg week of test) cycles with propecia 1mg finasteride ed and I did not have any hairloss and I am prone to MPB. If I up the dose to 2.5mg of finasteride, will it help prevent hairloss from 900mg of test?

If your hairloss is DHT linked then yes, it will help.

2.5mg is a little short. Because of the half life of Finasteride i would take 2.5mg in the am and 2.5 in the pm when doing my D-bol 30mg & Test C 800mg wk cycles....

5mg is NOT needed. 1mg should be enough.

Why not use the more effective Dutasteride (Avodart) which blocks the Test conversion at over 90% with only .05mgs ED, instead of increasing your dose of the weaker Finasteride (Propecia), which mind you won't change it's effectiveness (absorption is regulated regardless of dosage)?

    Just a thought.

Propecia (finasteride) intended for DHT linked hairloss is dosed at 1mg per tab. Proscar (finaseride) intended for androgen induced hypertrophy of the prostate is dosed at 5mg per tab (which I took for a short period of time). So I dont think 2.5mg is overkill, but if you can get by with less do it.

Fina was good to us all, but Duta is far more effective. Kind of like switching from B/W TV to color, you'll see the same show, but greatly enhanced.

Yeah. I wanted to go on duta but my doc wouldn't prescribe it because she said not enough studies have been done regarding long term effect...etc... I still want to try it so I may look for another doc.

When you fist started duta did you notice some shedding of your hair at first?

The elimination half-life is 5-6 hours (its age dependent) older men eliminate slower. The normal dose is 1mg/day.

Finasteride is a competitive inhibitor of Type II 5-alpha reductase an intracellular enzyme that converts Testosterone to DHT. Two enzymes are found in human Type I and Type II. Type I accounts for 33% of circulating DHT Type II for 66% of circulating DHT. Type I is found in subaceous glands, skin, scalp and liver. Type II is found in prostate, seminal vessicle, epididymis, hair follicles and liver.

Finasteride inhibits Type II approxmatley 100x greater than type I. The turover rate for the enzyme is 30 days for type I and 14 days for Type II.

Finasteride has no affinity for the androgen receptor or the estrogen receptor. It is not antiandrogenic, androgenic , anti-estrogenic or estrogenic. a 65% supression of type II will be reached in 24 hours on a 1mg/day tablet. (front load for a day if you want). It has no effect on FSH of LH so it can be used in PCT if you wish.

It is thought that DHT is the major contributor cousing male pattern baldness and Benign prstatic hyperplasia (BPH). Symptoms of BPH are inability to start a stream of urine, peeing at night (not necesarily after youve sucked the water fountain dry). This can lead to kidney problems if not treated properly, and the exam aint the most wonderful experience.

DHT (type II) is the ultimate mediator of prostrate growth. It can be used in benign prostatic hyperplasia or to block development of this condition.

Side effects: Decreased Labido, erectile dysfunction, decreased ejaculate. The are mostly dependent on person to person experience with the drug. All these side effects were reversable with discontinued use.

Overdose: single doses up to 400mg and multiple doses up to 80mg/day did not result in adverse reactions. Lethality in mice is 500mg/kg or for a 150lb person this is a single dose of 165,000mg.

The short: I have not seen a graphical relationship between fiasteride administration and inhibition of DHT, therefore it hard to say how much you should take to block the massive amounts of Test that will be in you system?? For instance will the enzyme (DHT) be upregulated under the massive amounts of test?

Fitness- Did you have any issues with estrogen while using the proscar?

I was reading this article and there's some interesting stuff in there as far as dht helping to control estrogen.
