What is your definition of Cutting
When you guys do your cutter are you in calorie deficit or does it just mean you eat clean and hit some cardio.
I hate the idea of being in a calorie deficit. All I can picture is my muscle being consumed for energy.

Cutting is very hard to do right. It takes a clean diet and work out. Gear just helps harden the muscle and keep it full.

When I do cutting I am just very strict about what I eat, cals are definitely cut to about 3000 per day. Still extremely high protein, moderate carbs (3 carbs meals out of 7) and no simple sugars. I only eat yams and oatmeal. Then I supplement fats with CLA, flax, cottage cheese, and beef. Do cardio 3-4 times per week in the a.m. empty stomach. You dont necessarily need to be in a caloric deficit per se. Just be careful what you eat and judge how much weight you want to lose. Remember that 3500 cals is equal to one pound. So if you reduce your cals by 500 per day multiplied by 7 days in the week you get 3500 and thus have lost 1lb per week. I dont think there is a real defitnition, as there are different degrees to cutting imo.

Theoretically, losing weight is easy, any person can to this (I hope),as it simply requires a calories deficit, burn more calories than you take. This is not rocket science.what is science though is lowering body weight but keeping hard earned muscle intact which is known as the art of `cutting`.Weight loss and body fat reduction are two diffrent concepts and we must be tackled diffrently in terms of diet and training to ensure the desired outcome i.e maximum defintion and minimum muscle loss.

I would say that 'cutting' is decreasing fat (as determined by bf%) but remaining, or even increasing lean mass
