    Western Union

I placed an order through western union and I got a message to call their customer service within 24hrs or my transfer will be cancelled. Is this normal?

If the order was over a certain amount they need to get some information from you.

The MTCN is given at the point of service. If the wire is over a certain amount of money they ask questions like..

What do you do for a aliving

Why are you sending this money ect

Ive done many many Wester Unions and never had a call like that. I usually send about 4x that amount too and never had a call. Did you place the WU at a store or over the internet?

western union over the internet is a bad idea IMO.. If you use a credit card or debit card the transaction could get traced back to you.. just do it in person with cash, less risk that way.

Yes it is normal if you did the transaction over the internet. it is just a confirmation and isnt' a problem.

But as Tazwell said, you are using a credit card, so be careful there

In person at a western union location is much better. Use cash and send less than $1000 and you dont have to provide ID.

Many times I have had to phone Western Union to confirm my money transaction. Just be thankful that they are checking as it is in your interest that they check

this is strange, I have never ever heard of this happening. How are you placing the order, are you doing it in person at the store? Ive never had this kind of trouble before. Getting nerbous that this is some kind of new practice. I never use my real identity or phone number.

It says right on the site if you do it over the internet you will get a call to confirm. Do it in person at a quicky mart type place.

All my Western Union transactions have been done on the internet and not through one of their outlets. I have had to give my real name and address and visa number.

Anyways...there is always risk but dealing with a verified good source that knows how to ship and you will be OK. Research is key to staying out of trouble.......don't just jump on the first "GOOD" source!
