**bloodwork Just In*** Propecia Users Need Input
Ok. I just got my 2nd bloodwork results back since I took my last one around 60 days ago. Everything came back normal since my last test especially my liver values which were soaring around 127 are now in the normal range again.
The only thing that was still low were my test levels. They dropped last time from 327 and are now 307.
I've been taking only Biotest Tribex and it looks like it hasn't been helping.
The only thing that I can imagine affecting my test levels is the propecia that I've been taking. I've been on it now for a little over a year at 1mg.
So does anyone that has been taking finasteride or dutasteride for long periods also have low test levels?
I've been off steroids since early August. Do you think i'm not fully recovered as well? It was only a var/proviron cycle.Last edited by Smak; 10-14-2006 at 05:35 PM.

I'm pretty sure it's the propecia causing my low test levels.
It helps to block DHT. Can someone explain this better?

Propecia is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. It blocks Test from converting into DHT. Its does not stop Test from being produced

A ballpark normal range for total testosterone in males is 300-1100ng/dl, with
700ng/dl being the mean. How ever my doctor stated 437 to 707 ng/dl as
a normal range.

But propecia also increases estrogen levels as well so wouldn't this lower test levels?

It lowers libido because the DHT is a big part of sex drive, that's why things like proviron increase libido.
If anything, I would think the finasteride would increase test because it keeps it from converting. Although 1mg/day isn't even that high of a dose.

Going from 327 to 307 is only a 6% change. Your test levels fluctuate quite a bit within the day, so without more testing it's not clear that your baseline test level has really changed.
If you feel like trying something, try tongkat ali like pumpd4lif suggested. I've used it before while off cycle and noticed an increase in libido. Supposedly it acts like LH and stimulates productin of testosterone .

Smak you need to get a few blood tests to determine if you have any deficency in T levels. These levels can fluctuate a little during the day. It also depends on how you feel naturally. Just get some more work done before drawing any conclusion
