it dont think there is an equation...u can use skin caliper test, hydrostatic weighing, bioelectrical impedence
you can figure out your BMI with an equation but not bf (as far as I know)

Screw BF...look in the mirror and you can have a better judgement.
Here's the deal, a guy can boast he's at 4% bf....but he may be 130lbs soaking wet.
If you constantly chase BF you'er going to miss the big picture....the mirror.

Like the bull said the mirror/others opinion tells all.
if your 250lbs and 12% bf your still better than 60% or more of the population and you diet shouldn't be based just on bf there are many more factors such as hardness deffintion and whole body symetery.
Good luck and don't go bellimick on us tryin to get all thin.

http://www.linear-software.com/online.html
Here is a link to software that shows you where to measure how to measure, and calculates for you. There are several methods available.

the electric ones suck.. most atleast.. they are very inaccurate, give too small readings for not muscular ppl and too high for muscular.. also in some machines the length of ur limbs affect the results... Does anyone know, are there any reliable electric ones?
Just read an article where some of them were tested (against DXA which is based on xrays and to my knowledge is pretty much a golden standard). Anyway 55 kg woman came up 9 % BF (in reality over 30).. and other results were similar but not as drastic..
Also I have done those measurements to a small 50 kg woman (with absolutely no muscles and huge amounts of fat) and got like 8%.. dont trust the electric bioimpedence ones... anyone else know more about them?

And there are methods (e.g. the Navy, the YMCA, that use only tape measurements). If you are tracking progress, who cares how they compare with some other method or accuracy, as long as you can use them to assist in tracking progress. As to overall how you are doing - the mirror, plus how you feel/move/etc.

Most gyms have someone on hand to give you a caliper test. If you try to do your self you will get a diffrent reading everytime, I have done it.

No problem guys.
