Hair Loss, What can I take??
I have had great results with testosterone , but it seems to be thinning my hair quite a bit, im 38 years old. What can I take that wouldn't make my hair shed so bad?

the reason the testosterone accelerates the hair loss is that testosterone is converted to another hormone called dihydroxytestosterone or dht , this is the hormone that is known to be part of the problem. Elevated levels of testosterone ordinarily means elevated levels of dht. the process of conversion from testosterone to dht is facilitated by the enzyme 5-alpahreductase.
finasteride interferes with the action of 5-alphareductas and so hinders or stops dht from forming. the therapeutic dose is very low at 1mg.
it should be noted that dht is known to be involved in arousal and libido and so can cause issues here, although it is reported that only 1 or 2% of individuals suffer , i am not sure if these 1 0r 2 % are extreme cases and possibly reduced libido could be more common but less severe or noticable.
finasteride will also have a positive effect on prostate health as dht is involved in enlargment of the prostate, another side effect noted related to this is reduced ejaculate , this being as a result of less being produced by the prostate.

I took finasteride (proscar) and Dutasteride, and my libido shit the bed.
In fact it got so bad, i ditched a girl in the middle of the nite, cause i freaked LOL.
I'm on the highway n she's calling me why i left? LOL I told her i had somethign to do ro sumething lol.. she prolly thought her pussy stank or something.
anyway that proscar nightmare aside..
DHT blocker, like propecia wil also kill your gains, cause DHT helps with muscle gains also,,, so u might as well just take a lower dose of TEST imo.
I'd say cut down on the dosages is the best way to go.

It might be helpful to remember as well that the same can be said of estrogen but obviously not the exact same reasons apply but estrogen has positve effects on strength and other areas it is known but we routinely introduce measures to curb its influence although it is more complex as excess estrogen kind of works against testosterone, but still estrogen is relatively important.
i guess using dht will hinder gains somewhat but you still have all the other compounds floating around so you no doubt will be in a very anabolic state still and with a much better head of hair hopefully.

at the end of the day blocking dht can have its draw backs, gains can be affected and strength gains definitley will be.but if you arent ready to go bald then dht inhibators are the tool for the job.
i for one arent ready to lose my hair, which is why i stay away from strong androgenic drugs,ok so my gains will be smaller but still effective.
you have to remember that even if you block/reduce dht, testosterone in its basic form is a very androgenic compound which will still cause sides/hairloss when taking high doses,so dont presume your safe.nizorol is a shampoo that can help reduce dht in the scalp,i tend to run it just in case.
so run proscar, dutas or propecia along with nizorol and see how you go.
