testostrone levels checked by dr--low?
I just got my results back from my dr office--I had my levels checked cause I have been off awhile and felt like S--T.
my free testostrone % was 2.3 with a normal range of 1.5-4.2
my free testostrone was 5.66 with a normal range of 5.00-21.00
my total testostrone was 239 with a normal range of 241-827
so for all you chemist bros out there is this pretty low and does it look like I will be going on hormone replacement--I wont talk to dr for a week or so--so I wanted to know what you guys think

Mine was at 286 when the doctor put me on Depot Testosterone a few years ago. My level has been staying at around 800 these days.

I'm 39
I have ran many cycles throughout the years the last I came off 6 months ago and used cyp at 400mg per week.I used clomid and dbol am to come off--the dbol am is used for three weeks at 5mg to 10mg am only--the theory is it only lasts a little while in body and own system will kick in at night--called bridging--it helps not to crash
the dr told me today he is going to start me on testin gel 1 tube is 50mg used daily
do you think this stuff is good?

But it may be a game you have to play with your Dr. before he will put you on an injectable. Or you can find another doctor.
I have researched it because my test too is normally on the low side. (I am 35) Your numbers are not at a severely bad level. The key for most doctors is whether you have low test SYMPTOMS or not.
Medically you could be funtioning perfectly fine. If you were normally in the low 400's, then this is not neccesarily low enough to create issues for you because the total drop is not that bad. But if you are one of those people who went through life in the 800-900 range, then this level would have a terrible impact on your overall well being.
Doctors will use blood test as a method of knowing what is going on. This is the only information they can get that they can be certain is accurate. What they cannot prove is HOW YOU FEEL and the SYMPTOMS you feel. (Syptoms are FELT and SIGNS are visable)
An expirienced endocrinologist will know this. The bad thing about Gen. Prac. docs is they might not have the indepth knowledge of hormone replacement that you need. So they tend to pull out the voodoo easy stuff. A gel is non-invasive and easy to home administer.
My advice? Learn all the symptoms of low testosterone . See if they relate to you, even if very slight. CONVEY these symptoms to the doc. Sometimes you have to know how to lead them where you already know you should be.
Common symptoms of low test:
1) Decreased labido
2) Difficulty dealing with stress
3) Muscular atrophy.
4) Infrequent or low quality errections
5) Depression
6) Decreased feeling of well being.
7) Irratability
8) Sleep disorders
9) Increased blood pressure
here is something that amazes me about the medical community. . .
For each one of those, we have a pill that will help/fix the problem.
1) Viagra/Cialis
2) NUMEROUS mood enhancing drugs. . .Paxil/zoloft etc.
3) Passed off a lot of times as "age related" and "You aren't 20 anymore, these things happen."
4) Again, viagra/cialis
5) Again, mood enhancing drugs
6) Not sure on this one
7) Mood enhancing drugs (I use this as a general term to refer to all psychothereapy type drugs)
8) Ambien and others
9) You name it, there is a bazillion BP controlling drugs.
More pills = easier for the doc. But all along, the root of the problem is not being treated. It is FAR better for you and safer for you to take test than to be put on meds to treat multiple issues.
I don't think Docs intentionally mis-diagnose the root problem. But its MUCH better for you to go in armed with knowledge so you can pursuade him to at least put some more thought into your issues, if they exist.
Sorry, probablly more than you wanted to know.

Oh and the good thing is. . .if you are already hypogonadal, more test will never hurt you. So even if you had ALL the symptoms and the test only eliminated 3/4, you killed 5 birds with one stone. . . .
You won't die from increasing your test (obviously). But it sure could be a long prison stay if your wife cheats because you can't get it up and yo ugo in a rage and kill her or the other guy because of it. LOL
OK, maybe extreme, but certainly possible.

6 months though, should put you way past that though.
Did your "boys" recover to normal size? I am just curious if a little HCG could have done you some good. But without knowing your precycle numbers, it may be hard to know this. Could just be the fact you are knocking on 40's door. . .no offence of course.

no offence taken --it just sucks because 40 answered the door a couple of years ago the way I feel
hcg probably could of helped but I am not sure if my boys have recovered in years and could not get it
