Opening Ampules-Interesting Approach

Anyone ever heat the tip of the amp, then put some cold water on it so it cracks. then hit it with a tool to make it fall off??

dont have moneyy to buy a crimper at the moment so going to make due this way.

I got an amp opener off ebay for 2 bucks, bought a few just to have.

i didnt have an opener even though i ordered it, so i scored the marked edges with my gal's nail file and then pushed it open with a cloth on my hand.

dont be silly mate get a bic penlid and snap it off,ive never shattered an amp yet...............

I just wrap a paper towel around the top and open it with a pair of plyers. I used a pencap once and sliced my thumb open

you can take some scissors and score around the top then break off with pen cap..

yeah, heating it is bad idea IMO. score it wit ha file or something and snap it off.

wrap a paper towel around and just snapp it off, only thing to think about is to make sure you dont put too much pressure on the amp so it will not break in your hand.

just keep it steade and push the top off with your thumb.

Interesting idea, but have you tried this?

Supplies needed:
Rechargeable drill with a 3/8 bit
Vice
Wooden dowel
.008 amp capacitor
1/2 ton hydraulic floor jack

After you get all of that gathered, score the neck of the amp. Shove the small end into an open ended Bic pen and crack it off.

When you're finished, look at all the junk you've gathered as a reminder not to complicate simple things.

I'm with Booz on this, find a pen top that slips over the amp - it applies even pressure and always works great.

i never used a tool, just my hands and it has always worked fine for me, all the amps ive ever seen had this thing on one side (that side is a bit thinner) so its easy to open it..
