Young and looking to gain weight
Hi, I am a tall lanky 16 yr old. I am 5' 8" and weigh 110 lbs (on a good day.) I have always tried to gain weight, and I tried every method posible. NOTHING has worked. The only other solution I can thing of is turning to steroids . Here is what I am looking to do:
I want to gain 20-30 Lbs.
Getting super strong is not a concern, but the weight I put on I dont want it to be pure blubber.
I do not want to be on steroids for long, just enough to get me to my goal weight.
With saying this, I'm sure im going to get spammed with READ THE STICKIES NUB! But everything just seems to be based on hardcore cycles and to build strictly muscle. If anyone can point me in the right direction id truly appreciate it.

you are too young and prob. will be banned...... eat more, do a search on diets. steroids are not for you, and will mess you up permanently.

You are way too young for steroids . You need to learn how to eat (theres more to it than shoving 4 big macs down your throat). Do your research buddy, you'll be glad you did.

Go home and eat for about 7 years...then come back. You juice now, you're going to f*ck yourself up man. You'll do A LOT more harm than good. PLease listen to me. DON'T DO IT You're going to interfere with growth plates that aren't even fully developed yet and end up ruining your chances for anything great in the future. DON'T DO IT. Go eat. Work out. Sleep and repeat.

can someone point me to an eating diet then please. And btw I can workout at a gym by myself =D.
You also have to remember its kind of hard for me to eat 8 meals a day, I get full so easy, plus I do go to school and limited to one meal for the 8 hours im there.

I dont think 5'8" is tall either, but lanky may describe 110 well. Eat some food man. Tell your mom that you want beef for your birthday.

yes you have to try to eat something every couple of hours..now were not talking about stuffing your face til you cant move..just enough to get you satisfied for 2-3 hours..buy some protein bars and take them to school and eat them in between classes..eat before school, have something before lunch, eat lunch, have a bar a couple hours later..you see the pattern, its not that difficult if you think about it

From my experience you should be eating plenty of protein with a good mix of carbs. My sports science a-level days are a long time ago so its hard to remember what I was told at 16.
Is 16 too young to be taking protein shakes? Try eating 6 small meals a day, include lots of chicken, brown bread, brown rice, pasta, bananas, nuts and tuna. The weight should come if you eat properly.
I had your problem at 16, I was 5ft10 and weighed very little, maybe 140lb I ate properly and by the time I was 20 I was 6ft and weighed 180lb.
For the love of god dont take steroids .

that is for people who are larger than you. since your smaller you will obviously be taking smaller amounts of food.... i was 105lbs at freshman year,...15 years old. take some creatine with weight gainer shakes along with alot of real food and have a good work out plan and you will grow.

your BMR is 1740 assuming you live a sedentary life style and do no pysical activity..you have to eat more calories than you burn to gain weight and its apparent that you dont..eat 3000 cals a day and hit the gym and I guarantee that you'll gain weight..youre gonna have to count cals for a while to get an idea of what youre eating..you can use fitday.com to help track everything you eat

last i heard to take supps.. like creatine etc.. 17 was prime age for that i had a couple of cousins who went to a football camp in Montecito and some profesional athelets like reggie bush etc... had there nutritionist with them and 17 was the recommended age... i was the same way bro 5"7 110 in high school. sucked i didnt eat so i didnt grow.. I dont think they guys here are telling you stuff urself with 10 eggs.. How do u eat an elephant? one bite at time....
Start off with 2 egg whites and 1 whole egg in the morning and gradually work ur way up... ive changed my diet and people are noticing that im growing... so food is Key...

wow, from that chart I eat a lot less then I think, 2200 calories for today.
So this is what I am going to try to do here.
1) Get muscle milk (whey protein) drink it for breakfeast, with a snack during school, lunch, and either befor or after a workout, which is better?
2) Eat a lot more.
3) Start working out

Muscle milk/whey protein is a SUPPLEMENT not a REPLACEMENT. You should be eating a couple of eggs for breakfast AND a protein shake.
If you get full easily, eating frequently is the only way you're going to be able to eat enough. Eat real food when you can (at normal meal times) and take protein bars and such to shove into your face in between classes. Don't EVER choice supplements over real food though!
If you want to put on 20 lbs and have it not be fat you're going to have to start eating AND working out. There's no impetus for the body to build more mass if it doesn't get stressed. The only way to build more mass is to eat enough such that you fuel your current mass and consume enough extra to build more.
Hope this helps!

i gotta say for a 16 year old kid, youre actually taking to our advice pretty well..most kids youre age dont..make sure you get some type of protein in during every snack or meal..protein is the most important part to buidling muscle..and youre definitely gonna have to hit the gym..stick with it, the results will come..nothing in life worthwhile comes easy..you should definitely learn about post workout nutrition as well..maybe at your age, get a good weight gainer and drink it immediately after working out

No no, I did not mean to make it sound like I am replacing it with a meal.
By that I meant, for breakfeast, 2 eggs bowl of oatmeal and as my drink to wash it down, muscle milk.
During/between classes eat something. Drink muscle milk to wash it down.
Also protein bars arent cheap, can't be forking over 20$ for 6 bars.

Have a couple scoops after your workout, followed by a meal. Eat protein every meal of the day and try to eat as many times as you can, also throwing in some Squats and Deadlifts may help.

So what would be better though, muscle milk (whey protein) or a weight gainer. Or both, and alternate between the 2?

You are an idiot.. When I was 16 I learned everything I could about training and diet.. I was 119 pounds at 5'9... about the same as you.. within two years I was 185 NATURALLY and I am a hard gainer... You just dont want to learn and put the hard work in that is necessary.. without figuring out the diet and working out which you obviously havent.. you will SCREW UP YOUR SYSTEM and WASTE YOUR TIME... Only now at 31 years old and low natural test am I considering juicing.. and I am 197 pounds naturally at the same height as when I was 119... thats an 80 pound gain naturally with most of those gains in the first two years.. at your age your natural test is very high and is not the problem.. the problem is you dont know what you are doing diet and training wise!
