    how catabolic is cytomel?

My doctor perscribed me some cytomel and I've been taking it pretty regularly at 100mcg/day for about 2-3 weeks

did my work out today and noticed my strength went down a bit, and was somewhat upset about it..

I'm not sure if it's due to the cytomel or if its due to other reasons (like stopping my creatine cycle)

I'm wondering - does it really cause catabolism?
at what dosage does it cause catabolism?

My strength is precious to me so if its really a source of catabolism
    i'll probably stop taking it

    thanks guys

It absolutely causes catabolism, it will cause catabolism at that dose, and it should never be taken without the addition of an anabolic IMO. Stopping the creatine could have a little bit to do with it, but im guessing the main culprit is the T3. Have you lost any weight?

    would 50mcg/day cause catabolism?

Prob not, but it also wont do much for you as your thyroid prouces about 40mg a day on its own....just curious, why did your doctor prescribe it?

but i guess i wont be taking it anymore. I want my muscle back!

Yeah, thats bizarre man, Ive never heard of that. Actually I take anti-d's and im taking T3 right now as well. But im also running cyp and winstrol with it to off-set the loss in lean muscle from the T3.....Drop it fo sho, but you need to ween off it or you can do permanent damage to your thyroid. Drop to 80 for about 4 days, then 60 for about 4 days, then 40 for about 4 days and then you can stop.

Thryoid produces about 40mgs a day on its own? I was told that the average healthy person only produces 25mgs or less.

IMO thyroid replacement at such a high dose, unless you have low T3 levels often causes more problems than it cures.

I have to disagree though about the weening thing. No damage will occur to your thyroid by stopping it cold turkey.

Taking cytomel for awhile may begin to depress your hypothal-pituitary-thyroid axis and can take some time to recover that.

    That's what I thought too.
