Acne
Is acne just a typical side effect of steroids ? Do most people who use steroids get it? Is there anything that can be done (besides dealing with it) to bring it under control?

I never had any problems with acne, even during puberty.....but some things yo can do to help clear up your skin......shower more often(especially right after workout), hot tub and or sauna/steam room....
Just a couple ideas that i have read other people doing....

Accutane can control it. Some people get acne whilst on and some people dont. Luck of the draw really.

It definitely sucks, I didnt have any on cycle, but PCT it has been a bitch so far. Things that seem to work:
B5
body wash
tanning
antibiotics
accutane
Good luck

I dont get acne
You should not get it unless you are acne prone
Keeping your blood level's stabalized helps prevent this as well

I tried the 2% Nizoral and it worked very fast. The 1% worked pretty good. Use it as a body wash, get a back scrubber and lather up the infected areas really good and let it sit for about 20 minutes every day.

Accutane treated my back succesfully years before.
I had only dry lips as a noticeable side.Didn't feel liver pain.I did 2 drug boxes.

I've been dealing with acne for around 7 years and through trial and error have it very under control now. People tell me I have great skin and would never guess how bad it used to be. Its even clear on cycle, but breakes out little in the weeks after.
Not everybody gets it from steroids . If you do you could try using benzyl peroxide in the manner described here
http://www.acne.org/regimen.html
It did wonders for me.
You can also try using Nizoral (ketoconazole) shampooon the affeected areas of the skin. It is an anti androgen and as well as preventing hair loss its seems to help with face and body androgen related acne.
I find backne responds to the same sorts of treatment as face acne, but I usually see results quicker in the face. Likewise if somethings inflames my acne my face breaks out before my back. Its also much harder to reach if applying creams, even harder when you are a wide latt'ed bodybuilder.
(I realise latt'ed is not a word, it means having wide latts)
If you are able to get a dermatologist to prescribe you some cortisone tablets that should clear you up very quickly, you cant stay on them long term though. Then you could take an antibiotic like Alprim (Trimethoprim) & by the time your off the cortisone the Alprim should be working and keep you clear. Or if it is warrented you can go with Accutane (called Roaccutane in Australia).
Salt water is said to help. Salts effectiveness in treating acne has been long documented. Chlorinated water may help too.
Many people talk abot tanning being effective but the thing with tanning and acne is often although initially the uv light will dry up your skin improving acne, there is a rebound effect and you body produces even more sebum than before.
Hope that helps, good luck.

I went to two different pharmacies today looking for B5. They had every other kind of B vitamin you can imagine, but no B5. When I asked the pharmacists about it, they looked at me like I was a martian. They had never heard of it, do you have to get it off the net?

B5 definitely isn't a common vitamin, I can honestly say I've never seen it on any shelf.
