You won't find the answer to this one in a New England or British Journal of Medicine publication, because we don’t have subjects stepping forth for testing. However, you just might find out if you set your DVRs & VCRs to tape the link below as the one-time BEST MLB PLAYER finally leaves the juice.

Now of course there are a few caveats that we should consider, firstly we don’t know how or even if he cycled because he admits to his knowledge coming from word of mouth, and he apparently didn't run PCT. I was privileged to have seen this EXTRAORDINARILY well done very contemporary (Oct. 8, 2008) piece on a most controversial legend and to learn many things such as:

THE STEROIDS

exactly what he used
that he apparently knows nothing of PCT (quit cold turkey)
the side effects he’s experiencing
what his Test levels are (his doctor reads them)
how he reacts to the prescribed Androgel TRT

Amazing wasn't it?
This guy was the very best, made untold millions but lost his wealth (mostly in bad investments) and two wives, has bad credit, doesn't know where his next check is coming from, put down a million cash in '05 for a home then added $600K in renovations only to have it foreclosed on six months ago. You'd think someone in his family would understand the principles of money management...with at least million in equity how can you possibly fall into foreclosure so soon? The house is your cash Jose!

I feel for the guy but steroids are the least of what this guys problems were, and are.

I'm sure he got paid for this documentary so it is just yet another ploy by the media, in this case A&E, to badmouth steroids for ratings. I do love intervention however but don't care much for this episode.

If you listen to Cansecos testimony from his own mouth, he was an underachieving - what was it high school or college? - player, who started taking steroids and suddenly became a baseball phenom.

He then utilized steroids for oodles of money and contracts and yet somehow pissed that all away. Apparently the money is gone from tow divorces and law suits. How are steroids to blame for this?

And yah maybe he should have come to steroid .com before he decided to stop taking. Hes been affecting his hormones manually for 25 years and all of a sudden he thinks his body is going to respond when he quits cold turkey? How could anyone that stupid be named the godfather of steroids?

Canseco owes everything he ever had to steroids! By his own admission he would have never even made it out of college ball without them.

Oh well, too bad. You got to live a life that 1 in a million guys never even dream of and you blew it. Big F'n deal. There have been 50 million 18 year olds whose name will never be known by anyone but family members who had to die for this country in the last 100 years. And thats just this country and thats just war. Lets not forget about cancer, disease, slavery, and who knows how much more.

You F'd up Canseco, so cry me a river. You still had a huge mlb career and got to live your dreams, you just werent smart enough to learn how to use money. And he's what? 44 years old now? You'd be retired anyways numnuts. Get over it!

he made his bed and now he has to live in it. i don't feel sorry at all for him, since for the last 25 years his bed was probably nestled inside a mansion and he never worried about his future at all. i don't know how financially savvy you have to be to realize that after your career is over, money stops coming in, and when the number in the bank gets to 0 you have to stop spending.

but then again his spending is nothing compared to tyson blowing 300 (THREE HUNDRED) MILLION DOLLARS in a few years. THREE HUNDRED MILLION. he could have made every since person in the country a millionaire with that much, but some how he found a way to blow it alllllll.

also, nhl, i don't think 50 million people of any age have died in wars in americas history... its a nice dramatic touch, just a little far fetched.

I'm not completely devoid of empathy but my point is there are literally BILLIONS of people who have come and gone on this planet in the blink of an eye without ever seeing or getting to experience a fraction of the things that Jose Canseco got to and we're supposed to feel sorry for the guy?

Come on. He lived THE american dream, and now its gone. Big deal. Get over it Jose. Be a F'n man. Life is both beautiful and cruel; either way, its all in how you look at it.

As human beings we possess a mechanism that is meant to create a profound attachment to the rest the species activating feelings of sympathy and empathy for the human condition whether in general matters of war and genocide, or specific ones like accidents or hard luck stories. Whenever suffering arises either duly or unjustly, to the good, innoncent, or naive this mechanism works to facilitate the very function of humanity, unless of course we intentionally deactivate it based on extraneous variables, i.e. my lack of concern over the death of Adolph Hitler. Nevertheless, any sportsman who watches this program about a truly GOOD GUY who used steroids as performance enhancers PRIOR to their illegality and willingly shared his succesfulness and very limited knowledge with anyone who asked...this former hero, son, father, friend, this man who’s public persona provided us with more than mere entertainment, but also anticipation, hope and a realization of the very limits of physical human achievement chemically enhanced or not, will have spent their time wisely.

All rhetoric aside, simply put, it’s a great piece and well worth watching not only for the baseball and/or steroid enthusiast, but for anyone. I hope you all tune in, or tape and enjoy it.
