Cleaning dirty gear

Hey guys, just after some step by step instrucions on how to filter dirty gear.. I have used the gear twice and both times got an infection..
I have the following..

12 vials of the dirty gear
10 new vials
10ml syringes
.20um whatman filters
lots of pins

My plan was... Boil all the old vials and new vials for twenty min (doing the new ones just incase its them that caused the infection last time..)
Draw up the 10 ml of the dirty gear... screw on the whatman and push the dirty gear thru it into the new steile vials...
Because iam two vials short i was going too preload some syringes... just a quick question.. does the whatman work in reverse?? Say i put the whatman onto the syringe i want to preload, and draw the dirty stuff up through the whatman into the syringe i want.. unscrew the whatman and put on the pin... will that gear be sterile??
