How do most of you powerlifters, strongman, etc lifters cycle leading up to a competition (non-tested) league of coarse?

For example what kind of testosterone for someone who has never used anything? Test prop with Anavar for pure strength? How would you time the use up to a comp?
When would you time it to the meet? At the end? 2 weeks after, etc....
