Diagnosed with fatty liver
I got diagnosed with fatty liver 2 weeks ago. I had a ultrasound scan 5 weeks after going to the doctor and complaining of right upper abdominal discomfort. He suspected something was wrong with my gallbladder but turns out it was my liver. Im only 22 years old, was drinking once every 2-4 weeks besides when i was injured i drank every saturday for 4 weeks in a row and drank to much then 8 days later started having the pain. I don't eat fatty foods but was eating a really high carb diet from white pasta and rice. My doctor is not helpful at all and just told me to lose weight, eat healthy and don't drink much. What can i do?

get into go cardio vascular shape, regularly take a liver support like milk thistle or liv52, don't drink, get your blood pressure down, don't eat a lot of sugar or a lot of saturated / trans fat, etc

Based on what you mentioned doing. Drinking one a week for 4 weeks, eating a lot of pasta. IMO is not enough to damage liver. Its stronger that that. IMO you already had a problem coming that you did not know about. I would start taking care of it. The liver is the only organ that can regenerate itself and with a little help from you IMO will be fine.

Would a liver support supplement actually work in fatty liver. I haven't had any drink since a had the pain which was 7 weeks ago now and don't plan on drinking again...it really dont bother me. My blood preassure is fine and i don't eat saturated/trans fat's or have any suger. Would it benefit me to add some health fats like extra virgin olive oil, flax or omaga-3?

I had high liver enzymes a few years ago most likely due to fatty liver. I was in the same position as you and asking the same question. It all came down to insufficient amount of cardio with excess carb diet. I fixed both of those and my liver enzymes went back to normal range within 3 months.

I was diagnosed with the same thing about 7 years ago. I stopped drinking for two years, checked my diet and it went away. I started drinking again, diet got a bit out of control, not too bad. Went in earlier this year and it was back along with pretty high cholesterol. Doc put me on Niaspan for the cholesterol and he said it should help restore normal liver function (as far as processing fat). Niacin does take a toll on your liver after a while. I still drink on occasion only, like once a month, but have seriously cut down on the saturated fats. Any fats I do eat are mono & polyunsaturated like olive oil and peanut butter. Im supposed to go back for bloodwork but have to wait since im on week 3 of my cycle.

My cholesterol is really low, infact the doctor said im at a lower than low risk of cholesterol related diseases. My blood preassure is also good now since iv'e dropped my weight and i don't really take in any saturated fat, i need to work on getting fat it in to my diet. Iv'e stopped drinking altogether although i never really drank often. How was you diagnosed? Was you having any symptoms and did they say what the cause was?

i dont drink and gastrologist prescribed me ursodeoxycholic acid month course for liver fat reduction. he told me to watch my carb/fat intake and do cardio too. He even told me since i had elevated level of cortisol it could be related to my issue.

Mine got diagnosed because I went in complaining pain on my side. They did blood tests on me and saw elevated sugar level, so then they did more tests and saw that I had fatty liver. The pain wound up being something else though so I guess I had no real symptoms. They caught it by chance.

Oral AAS are obviously not the culprit, so this thread is in the wrong section.

It's amazing the power the liver has. In the years I've been alive, I've taken mine to hell and back. No joke. I'm just thankful I've eased up on it recently because I'm sure one of these days it woulda' been too late.
