how fast do inject
when you inject, how long does it take to get the needle fully in.
I inject in my quads and it takes me a long time to get it to bottom out, anywhere from 1 to 3 mins. Just curious if anyone just jabs it in quickly and if you do, have you ever had any problems with that.
Or if you use to go fast but now go slow or visa versa and how come?
thank you!
Sorry I cant seem to change the poll question, I meant, how long does it take you to get the needle in ( bottom out)Last edited by frsttmer; 10-10-2011 at 03:14 PM. Reason: error

do you mean the needle itself of pushing in the plunger?

have you ever had any problems? is it a problem if i do it slowly?

i would say 1 to 3 mins is way to slow. there is no way you are holding the needle steady for that long. so if it wiggles around you cause more damage.
No i never had a problem. You are supposed to do it quickly

today was the fasted ive ever done it, and i was a nice steady pace, and prob took 30 seconds, and it felt like my best injection.
I am able to keep my hand pretty steady though, i rarely am sore after injections, but i get what your saying and i can understand how that would cause more damage....
do you think 30seconds is too long as well?

I am confused... Are you talking about actually putting the needle into the muscle or to fully inject the dose? It should take about a second to get the needle in one swift motion, then aspirate and check to make sure your not in a blood vessel and plunger down about 15-20seconds for 1.5ml usually then pull out one swift motion. Total maybe 35-40seconds

ya sorry i messed up the question, I meant just getting the needle into the muscle.
I've always gone slow, i know doctors inject it fast, but i thought i had read that ppl do it differently, some go fast and some go slow, it seems though, that everyone goes fast. so i'm going to have to give that a try

Putting the needle into the muscle--like 3 seconds.
Injecting the gear into my body--like 30 seconds for .5ml

thx for the quick responses, I will be doing it fast from now on, I am slightly nervous lol but whatever

I do it slow too, only because I'm conscious of hitting a nerve.

depends on density of nerves in a particular site, delts usually 2secs, quads maybe as much as 10secs

Just a few seconds to get it in,,,but I inject slowly...40-60 seconds,,depending the drug and volume.

The more you do it the easier it is. At first I would have to sike myself up and sh.t , now It's nothing. I do have a buddy that's such a pu$$y that he comes over every 5 days to get hit in delts. My wife jus laughs at him

Really? Ive been doing it for 3+ years. I seem to be getting slower as I go. I use to stab/jab but now I go SLOW. Even inserting the needle it's mm by mm but probably only takes less than a minute from breaking the skin to sinking in all the way. I also take 1+ min per cc

Well I don't stab jab. But I lve noticed I do more damage going slow it probably takes less then 5 sec. I do remember hitting my sciatic nerve in the beginning and coming 2 on bathroom floor lol. Hit it to high lol

1second in, pushing the gear in about 5 to 10 secs. Taking out the needle 1sec. 15 seconds! You're not gonna hit a ere if you follow the right injection spots! Most people aspirate wrong as well, anyone will hardly hit a vein, 1 in a million!lol

I take about 30-45 seconds as well on my quads. Shoulders generally 15 seconds. I don't like stabbing myself, had a terrible experience doing it. Ive got to the point I don't even feel the needle 9/10 times.

do whatever u feel comfortable doing.
i hate feeling all the scar tissue so im quick, light a cig, load my shot and go....still have 3/4 of a cig left when complete..

Eventually you will form you own habbit depending on which is more comfortable to you. In my opinion you should pierce the skin quick and then go slow. Fast for the skin because thats what basically causes pain(receptors) and then slow as to avoid nerves if you happen to encounter one. But of course it would take less than 10 seconds, it would be ridiculous to go slower than that and pointless also.

Should take no more than 20 seconds, start to finish. If you hit a nerve, what difference does it make if you hit it fast or slow? Feels all the same to me. And i've bruised up pretty bad either way. So, i prefer to get it in and get it out nice and fast. No need to dick around w/it.

If you go slower then you can feel if your coming close to a nerve before hitting it, thus you can avoid it. At least that's how it is for me, especially in quads where it happened alot of times and i had to change the trajectory of the pin in order to avoid the nerve. thus, i never hit a nerve, but came close to one a bunch of times. I never got bruised from a shot, not even in ED pin cycles, even though i was sore because of the substance i was using.

Actually yes it makes a difference. I hit a nerve a couple of times going fast and of course had a severe muscle twitch/jump. Going slow when I get close to a nerve I stop, back off a little and then continue. The nerve seems to move off to the side and in the last 2+ years I have never hit a nerve.
If you inject fast; push the plunger down hard/fast then think about what is happening. The liquid is squirting out at high volume blasting into your muscle causing a bruise. That's why most people get sore IMO.

ahhhhhh, i've felt that while going slow, its like im hitting a nerve (sometimes), and my leg twitches abit but then i can keep going.... thxfor your response lovbyts,
I've never bruised going slow and the most pain I've felt the net day was when my friend did my first injection for me, and he ofcourse did it fast.
I always injectin my quads and I think I will contnue going slow. I dont want to hit a nerve at full speed.

I just jab it, but I ease it in to feel for scar tissue.

I have had to go in slow at times too, not sure if scar tissue is the culprit.
