water retention on gear.
Okay I am confused on what the ideal look is. Lots of people complain about eating so many carbs makes them look fat/bloated, yet on the same token, a lot of people complain that no carbs (like keto) make muscles look flat.
You want your muscles to show after that awesome cycle you just did, what do you guys prefer? Full muscles with bloat from carbs, or that super dry look of keto?

There is a difference between dry and flat.
With proper carb manipulation one can look dry with full muscles

Carb manipulation is usually around a week before competing or a photoshoot. It usually consists of depletion for a number of days where carbs are kept as close to zero as possible with workouts focusing on depleting glycogen while drinking multiple gallons of water. Then towards the end of the week sodium is cut and carbs are greatly increased with water being cut on the last day. This brings all of the water into the muscles and out from under the skin
