    redness possible infection? please help

Hi I pinned my left delt this past saturday morning 10/14/12. It was the first time in this delt. I have a red circle forming about the size of the whole delt. PIP is the same as my other delt that i did last week for the first time, which is pretty sore. It is light red with no bumps as of right now. Should I be worried or can this be a normal reaction that can pass. Or is this pretty much a definite infection or something else and I need to see a doctor?

Could be, but likely just irritation. Give it a few days it should go down. If it doesn't start to go away then you should be concerned and have it checked. Keep your hand steady when pinning.

    10/14/12 was Sunday

Sounds like PIP. Infection takes a little longer to set in. Is the area soft or hard? Any problems with movement? If slight discomfort, Motrin or ibuprofen will help but do not exceed recommended dose. Watch for any hard lumps forming, increasing pain, numbness, or nausea/vomiting/fever. The latter would indicate an infection but it seems unlikely this early.

Sorry Austinite 10/13/12... awesome thanks for that guys. It does help to calm the nervs when its a new muscle group and dont know what to expect. Ill definitely will keep an eye on it.
MuscleInk - The area is soft, I have a little soreness if I lift my arm to the side too fast, but it is the same amount that I had on the other side which came out fine from last week. The motrin or ibuprofen is just for the pain correct, not to help heal anything or speed up the process? I would say the PIP has gone down since last night and seems to be normal. Thank again for the info

Definitely sounds like PIP. You can try heat or a warm soak followed by light massage but generally I like to leave the area alone for 2-3 days to see if it heals on its own before I try anything that could irritate it further.

Yes Motrin/ibuprofen is for pain if you feel you need it. It won't do much for accelerating healing. Your body should do that naturally.

Post here with updates or PM me if anything changes.

In the majority of cases, this kind of rxn is normal and will pass in 2-5 days.

Update as of this morning. The redness did seem to go down a little bit. I will have to keep an eye on it for the day and see what happens. I sure that since it went down it probably isnt anything for me to worry about

crazy I pinned left delt again this past saturday and now I have a similar redness happening except its about 3-4 inches below the pinned spot. This time it is itchy though, with no pain at all. Do you think it is the same thing? Should I stop pinning my left delt? I have no problem with my right delt or glutes.

anyone? what could the itchiness mean? the redness seems to get less bright then comes back but stays the same size, still no pain. it has been 3 days now. i have another pin tomorrow and wanted to get the correct advise before continuing.

Ok Bouch me and you are soft skinned or vaginas lol J/k i experience the same thing its absolutely nothing basically when you inject yourself its like a small surgery so if you ever had stitches or surgery you know when your done it itches correct and the red usually comes from the irritation after a while you will get used to it just like me my friend.
Everything is okay though dont worry. I pin and usually get two redspots they go away about 4-5 days

nice i was tripping since its been a few days now and it was itching. that makes complete sense, the healing process causes the itching.
