    Body fat question.

I've never had a caliper test done but I was at the gym the other day and they had this thing that looked like a Nintendo wii steering wheel that calculates BF%. Anyone how accurate they are?

Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (Nintendo steering wheel) for bodyfat% is not considered to be an accurate measure of bf% due to variables including hydration level, consumption of food prior to test, ambient temperature, etc. Dexa scanning is the most accurate bf measurement, but is expensive.

The calipers put me at 10%, steerin wheel at 8%, and the body fat comparison pictures have me right around 12%. Unless you have a DEXA scanner or something the mirror test is best IMO

The mirror test is probably the most accurate of the three you were tested with. Hydrodensitometry test is the standard by which all other tests are compared. This involves getting into a tank filled with water. Based on the amount of water you displace, your body density and body fat can be calculated. Test costs about $25.00

I have one of those stealing wheel deals. I have put on a little weight this cycle and my muscles are definitely fuller. The meter says I'm still 29 bmi and 16 bf. I've been working my butt off for two months straight and I'm EXACTLY the same. Haha. Definitely not accurate.
