    Question Genetic potential and steroids

I keep hearing that steroids are only good once you've reached your genetic potential and want to push past.... but as soon as you come off you'll go back to where you were before. A couple questions...
    1. How the hell do you know when you reached your potential? Or is this just some stupid excuse people use for slowed progress?
    2. Would you completely revert after stopping use? Or if you continued to workout hard, eat the right amount to maintain size, could you keep a good portion of the size you did get while cycling?

    Thanks for the help

Genetic potential in most cases is referring to the maturation of your endocrine system. Yes, some may refer to genetic potential as achieving your maximum growth naturally, but as you indicated, this is hard to nail down. Conversely, the commonly accepted dogma is that your endocrine system reaches maturity around 25 years of age. Using steroids before this maturation is reached (i.e. 25 years of age) can interrupt natural growth, shut down your endocrine system (perhaps permanently) and have long term implications later in life (depression, erectile dysfunction, loss of libido, and many other undesirable consequences).

What determines how much you retain after cycle comes down to nutrition and exercise - the same predictors of growth DURING a cycle. Too many young guys falsely assume that a cycle or two of steroids will make them look like Phil Heath, Jay Cutler, or any other successful body builder you can think of. The truth is, it's your nutrition and training that will ALWAYS determine how big or lean you look as how much of that you will maintain. Steroids will never compensate for the guy who doesn't eat right or enough to support muscle growth. It's no more complicated than that.

That was a 10/10 reply. That was exactly what I was thinking but I just wanted some reassurance, ha.

Really? Boob implants are immediate. Steroids are NOT a magic bullet and don't instantly turn you into a stud, it still takes HARD work.
