    AAS and caloric defect

The standard practice for cutting fat according to members is to determine your TDEE and eat 3-500 below this (with proper macros). My understanding was that if calories become too low, that the overall metabolic rate drops. The other risk would be if calories are too low that a person could lose muscle mass.

I just want to communicate that I understand these points while I lead into my question: Would AAS while cutting allow for a GREATER caloric defect? Given that AAS would maintain muscle while calories drop.

Here is another thread discussing a similar topic with others' opinions.

To answer your question more directly, yes it will, that is what an anabolic state is. That is why they are called anabolic substances. However, I hate to say this, but there really are a lot of factors to consider. You just have to be careful on those larger calorie deficits because while you are going to sacrifice a little of LBM in nearly every cut, you might end up losing too much.

Ranger Danger is right. There's a limit to how much AAS can stop muscle wasting during a caloric "defect". An almost educated guess would be that you'd be fine running an 800 calorie "defect", but you know your body better than I do. Also, your body only really starts eating away at muscle when you reach 10% BF. This within reason, of course, i.e, not starving yourself.

    What is your current BF%?
