Confessions of a steroid newbie
Age: 31
Height: 5'9
Current Weight: 210lbs
What's up fellow Meatheads,
I've almost got all of the things I need in line to start my 3rd (and hoping, smoothest cycle) to date.
When everything is set and I'm officially ready to start cycle 3 under way, I'll be keeping everyone up to date on the what/when/where/how much/ and so on, along with pics.
For now, though, I thought I'd share, with you guys, my experience with my very first steroid cycle, how it went, and the things I've learned:

As far back as I could remember, I've always wanted to be a meathead.
Really, I had no say in the matter. My father was a meathead, and his father before him, and his father before him. Really, my family is and always has been predominately male. Each just as in love with weights and training as the other, all in silent (and not so silent) competition with each other on who looked the most impressive.
Being raised by and surrounded by what were essentially, hairless , pink gorillas, I couldn't WAIT to get as big and run with the pack!
I consider myself lucky. I grew up in a home where grilled chicken and sweet potato or brown rice were standard dinners. Bodybuilding foods were always a staple in my home, so getting into the habit of eating the same clean foods consistently was never a discipline I had to struggle with.
I consider myself lucky even more so, because GENETICS IS FORREAL. I've seen way too many of my friends BUST THEIR ASSES 10x as much as me and have the slightest progress to show for it.
By the time I was 16, I was already a muscular, strong kid. Although coming to the realization that I would never grow past 5'9 kinda sucked. lol.
Around the time i was 17, my dad and I went to the gym, chest and tris. We're both on our last set of incline bench, I hit 315lbs for 5 sloppy half - reps. He does 315 for 12 easy reps, barely breaking a sweat.
I was in awe. Then he looks at me and goes, "Son, you ever mess with steroids ?"
I said "never" and he said, "good. don't ever. You wont need them."
I looked at him, and meekly asked, "do you mess with steroids?"
He smiled and said, "Yes. But I've earned that right"
Now, truth be told, I didnt truly understand what steroids were, or what they looked like, or how you took them... I just knew (or thought I knew) the vague myth that they made you strong and made you look like a god. I was a naive 17 year old with much to learn.
It wasn't until I was 29 that I actually understood what he meant by, "I've earned that right"
That's when I tried my first cycle....
and damn did I do some things way wrong....

Just a little over a year ago.
It was a 12 week cycle:
Week 1 - 12: Test Enth 500 mg / week (Pinned twice a week. 250 mg Sundays / 250mg Wednesdays)

I had on hand 3 vials of Test and what, I was told, was Nolva.
But the Nolva box was written in what looked like Chinese. And already being a bit nervous, I decided to just stick with Test only. Estrogen be damned!
Bad idea.

When I started that cycle,
At 5'9
I was 210 lbs
Approx 12% bf.
I remember filling the syringe with the Test that first time, and my hands were trembling at the idea of having to inject myself and pushing on that plunger, but damn it, I was ready to jump out of the natty world and into something more envelope pushing.
I sank that needle into my upper quad, pushed the test in, and.... I felt, nothing....
As a matter of fact, I felt nothing for close to maybe 4 weeks.
I mean, outside of sore muscle bellies in my legs from pinning, I was kind of surprised that I felt not true or sudden changes for a while.
I'd say,
Week 1-4, physically felt the same
Around week 4, I felt hints of flu-like symptons. Kind of achy. Kind of tired. But that dissapated pretty quickly.
Then around week 5 and 6, I felt a real change.
I felt energized. I felt focused. and holy crap were my lifts jumping in weight.
I was stuck at 275 on the bench for damn near a year.
Now, i was gradually doing 315 and eventually hitting a clean 12 reps.
My squat went through the roof, regularly doing 405s for 8 reps.
My Deadlift was also at 405.
I was stronger than I'd ever been, and pretty damn quick too!

So the strength gains were legitmate and incredible.
My body composition starting taking on a much more appealing look.
I went from 210 to 222 keeping my diet more or less the same. (High protein/Mod carbs/Mod fats).
my shoulders were rounder, my chest shaped nicer, my abs were showing with no effort. My back and lats blew up.
My energy was high, I slept well, I was always hungry. I was SUPER horny. My libido was at an all time high. My wife actually found it annoying because i was always ready to pounce! I would honestly get hard at the drop of a hat.

With all of that said...
With no AIs of any sort, my nipples were ALWAYS hard and sensitive. I am INCREDIBLY lucky I didn't actually develop gyno. But damn, my nips were always piercing through my shirts. It's kind of embarrassing because I work in an office setting and people constantly brought attention to it.
Also, GOOD GOD did I get MOON FACE!
I held on to so much water. My body looked solid, but gone was my jaw line. I was a bloated sweaty mess.
And what good is a great body when your face looks like a pumpkin!

As my cycle neared the end, I read on another forum about alternatives to PCT.
This forum stated that it wasn't a bad idea to just decrease the amount of test per week you were taking until you finally just stopped.
The idea being that as you gradually decrease the test you inject each week, you go from 500 mg a week, then to 300 mg a week, then down to 200, then 100, and so on until you bring yourself to below "standard", whatever that may be, and that when your body realizes your actually injecting lower than natural doses of test, your body would kick start natural test production to bring you up to normal....
TERRIBLE IDEA!!!

When it was all said and done, I was lucky to hold on to some of the strength gains, but watching your body slowly revert back to pre-cycle-ish, is a bit of a downer.
I was glad to see the water weight shed, and I was lucky that my nads went from raisins back to normal.
It would be close to 5 months before I did my 2nd cycle, with lessons learned, and a better understanding of the process.
