Permanent loss of erections
Just wondered if anyone had experienced this?
I am reading a bit about TRT/Long term steriod use and apparently there is a substantial risk of permanently losing erections.Last edited by Jedi1337; 04-25-2016 at 12:36 PM.

Testosterone replacement therapy, is the process of using exogenous testosterone to supplement what the body no longer produces naturally. Therefore, in my opinion, TRT alone cannot be a cause of erectile dysfunction. No matter how long the therapy has been in place.

Yes seems logical doesnt it. However we still only partially understand how it all works so best to use empirical research and/or self reports rather than suppositions.

Im not on TRT, and yes always had good erections. However, while taking steriods recreationally i have noticed an almost complete eradication of depression and anxiety, leaving me to consider if TRT is an option for me.
I dont want to get permanent ED in 5 years time though and regret it.

I wouldn't worry about losing erectile function if you plan on starting TRT and actually have low t numbers and need therapy....Testosterone is testosterone at the end of the day and as long as you keep your E2 in check TRT isn't going to all of a sudden induce ED....if anything it will make things even better.
Having said that if you are in normal Testosterone range naturally the last thing I would do is go for TRT. A TRT dose is far different from a cycle dose, don't expect the same things on less than half the testosterone. If something isn't broken I wouldn't try and fix it
Also, alot of what you are reading about "permanent loss of erections" are men that are much older and had erection problems to begin with before TRT. There are many many different causes of ED, especially as people get older. Also the different ways people get treated for low testosterone from Doctor to Doctor is frightening. I have experienced it first hand. Finding a Dr. that is up to date and knows what they are doing is 90% of the battle in my opinion. My first Dr. had me on 2 pumps of gel a day and it pretty much induced low testosterone, I called him a month into it and told him I felt the same or worse and he just offered me Viagra or an injection of 100-200mg once every 3 weeks. He has been treating people that same way for years and years and actually has a good reputation which is scary. When I asked him about my Free Testosterone levels at my first appointment he had to walk out of the room to lookup what Free T was in his medical books. Almost all of his patients are for low testosterone as wellLast edited by Dj Screw; 04-25-2016 at 03:24 PM.

No suppositions were posted. A proper TRT plan alone does not induce erectile dysfunction. That's what the posts prior to this one stated. Now....long term steroid use ??? That's a totally different discussion.
