Possible infection at injection site
Middle glute, onset at 24h from pin, very sore and warm/hard to touch, the whole area is visibly swollen.
Light fever 37.5 C (99.5 F), slight flu-like malaise.
Coincidentally, pulled bloods yday and it shows an high abs neutrophil count of 8.7, which is a sign of acute inflammation or possibly, infection.
Never confronted with this before. What would be the best course of action, drain the thing, take antibiotics (which one?) or just wait?
No idea what to say to GP if consulting him first.

Also if someone got a blood sachet to spare, hematocrit is as low as 40% lol.

I would visit GP right away. I had this happen a few months ago and it did not end well. Had I stopped by the doctor sooner a simple Antibiotic regiment might have helped.

Is it red? I've done glute injections before and they were swollen and swore for like a week. You could try taking some antibiotics... see what happens.

I would just watch it for a couple of days. There's a good chance it'll just go away. If it's still there in a couple of days go see a doc. I have red/sore pins sometimes. It's uncomfortable but it's always cleared up.

Oh I had PIP so bad in my time I couldn't walk for a week but this round it's just different, never had fever/malaise at any point previously.
It's not just sore it hurts, feels like lacerating inside. I'm going to GP the now and ask about an antibiotic course, if that fails then hospital be it.
It's more than two days already btw and it's worsening.

I got a third leg also.
GP went to check my ass and said it doesn't look like an abscess, more like a case of local inflammation, and the elevated neutrophils also would be consistent with inflammation, and so the light fever. No grounds to think of infection so no antibiotics prescribed either, he just said to take some nsaids or lasonil applied locally.
I trust him that he's in the right... now I wonder why the HCT is so low, I'm taking all of my regular supps and my Test dosage is quite high...

I had a pretty nasty one a few weeks back. After about a week it wont hurt so bad. It took about ten days for all the swelling to go down. Youll probably get a bruise in a day or two. Stay on the upper outer quadrant and dont pin that side until the swelling is gone. IMO... i got to where i prefer the delts now because of that but its all in rotation...

Still very sore but nsaids are of help.
Got a question - I suspect the MCT in the gear, which I've never used before, could be part of the inflammatory reaction, an allergy of sorts.
Has anyone had bad reactions to pinning MCT oil?

I've use GSO and MCT. They're both great oils. Just have to make sure that they're filtered well and "cooked" to kill the bacteria.
