Doing anything out of sheer compassion is never wrong.

You knocked her up pal you are just as responsible for what happened as she is. You also have just as much right to raise the kid as she does. If you don't want to have to pay support for her to raise your child you he every right to 50 percent. If you aren't there 50 percent than she, and your kid have every right to child support, assuming she does a good job.
I knocked up my ex who I was only seeing for a month. I manned up to raise that child and gave it my best go even though we weren't great together. Had another kid with her hesitantly but again, fuck it I had decided to give it my all and then she hit the road a year ago deciding to finish living out her early 20s. Now in hindsight best thing that could've happened minus the hitting eject and leaving me with the kids and a full time job for awhile. We don't get along very well and have battled hard on alot of issues but I have my kids 50 percent. Ive done well in my career I put in 10 more years at than she has so I still have to pay her which is kind of bullshit considering she has a pretty good job and actually works more and spends less time with the kids than I do but such is life.
Either way if I had to go back knowing what I know I would have done it all again for my kids. Plus I met a phenomenal woman who is amazing with my kids and perfect for me whom I likely would not have met as having kids changed me from a partying, womanizing boy to a man. So everything happens for a reason.

I have no regrets about helping this girl. It’s between me and the Lord.
Interesting was the girls response...she said she couldn’t take the cash and I said - I insist and then she tried to return the change - a whole $1 and some coins. I suggested when she’s in a better place years from now perhaps she will be able to pay it forward to someone else. She thanked me again and then hugged me. PRICELESS
I’m on a different place on my journey.
