    Sterile Abcess?

So after my last injection I have a lump about a quarter in size that will not go down at all. I'm starting to think that it is a sterile abcess, seeing as they usually go away after a couple days and this hasn't changed in 4 days now. Should I wait it out a bit longer and see if my body eventually absorbs it or should I head to the doctor? Also assuming it is just a sterile abcess, is that something I could pin and drain myself? Thanks in advance guys.

Definitely not hot or red, so not too worried about infection. Even the lump isn't that strange, I get them frequently. Normally they shrink by about 1/2 size within a day and are gone inside 3 days. This one has not gone down at all even with shitloads of massage and hot compress. I will give it a bit longer but assuming the worst and it doesn't go down can I try draining it myself or would that be stupid? Thanks again

    Where is it?

I've had lumps last 2 weeks due to high alcohol content

I would continue to leave it be...

Poking at it will only make it worse! Take ibuprofen to help with the inflammation and rotate heat and cold.

Only and only if it starts to turn bright red or streaking would I begin to worry...

Even then I’d be reluctant to stab it unless you see a visible puss pocket. If it starts to streak or discolor, I would think about attacking it systematically with an antibiotic...

I’ve had shit decide to not disperse, ball up in my pec for a couple of weeks and even migrate to the point where I actually mistook it for gyno trying to start.
It happens, and so long as there’s no actual signs of infection, I wouldn’t go stabbing a damned thing. When something is sterile, you’re better off leaving it alone until it self resolves.
All you’re doing by jabbing it is risking introducing pathogens to an environment that is potentially more hospitable to them than a fresh injection. Most of the preservatives and solvents in the gear are gone by then, so you don’t even have that element of protection going for the site anymore.

Awesome thanks guys. Still no improvement today but also still no sign of infection. The lump is about a quarter size and protrudes enough I can see it in the mirror. It is about 4 inches down from my injection site (right delt) and maybe an inch over. Seems to be trapped just to the the side of my bicep. Ill continue to give it time, just wasn't sure how long they could take to resolve. Have had lumps before in the same spot on either arm but usually they are gone within 1-3 days tops.

    Ouch

Sounds like it was possibly shot to close to surface

I’ve had a few that sound similar - like a knot, not too deep down, that you can actually feel
