What bp med are you guys on.

So want to keep my bp under control. Fluctuates throught the day been trying to keep it under control. Avg been around 140/88. If I rest for a bit before hand can prob get it to 135/78. But whenever I go to Dr it gets way up to 160/100 160/90.

So trying to really keep track of it now. My doctor wants to put me on 10mg lisinopril. Only concern I have is that it affects the kidneys. My creatinine was 1.6 and egfr 57 a month ago. I stopped the creatine supplement and creatinine now down to 1.5 and egfr up to 62.

So not sure to take the lisinopril because I don't want it affecting the kidneys.

What are you guys on and any recommendations? Going to talk to my Dr. today

ACE inhibitors, like lisinopril, are used to protect the kidneys. They are used for people who have chronic kidney disease or who suffer from diabetes (which also affects kidneys). They are one of the oldest, most studied, and best tolerated drugs for the treatment of high blood pressure. I take 80 mg lisinopril a day, along with 25 mg atenolol. 80 is considered the max dose, so you're gonna be doing almost nothing. I don't think they would be using a drug that's harmful to kidneys to treat kidney failure.

Thanks brother. When doing research found a few studies where it worsened kidney functions which surprised me because like you said it is used for people with chronic kidney disease.

My doctor wants to hold off for now since I have been getting lower readings at home. But still would feel better if I just was on it especially at such a low dose.

Your doctor is starting you on a real low dose to see how it affects your blood pressure and your kidney function. He'll likely increase the dose until your BP is under control and your kidney function remains stable (or improves some). But like Monsterone said, drugs like Lisinopril are some of the most studied drugs out there and are regularly given to protect kidneys from damage due to BP.

And yeah, most people tend to get a little nervous going to the doctor's office, so their BP is higher than usual there.

Just remember that you're a relatively young guy and they likely caught your kidney and blood pressure problems early. It's good they caught it now rather than 10 years from now.

Sounds good. At office it's been 160/90. At home I'll get anywhere from 130/70, 150/76, 160/95, 148/82 crazy how much it fluctuates throughout the date.

Going to increase cardio, 5 mg cialis daily, carditon, fish oil and celery seed.

My doctor originally wanted to start me on 10 mg. Told her my avg at home is around 138/88. She now wants me to hold off on the pill. What can I say to her to just get on it. I have family hx of hypertentioj and throw in the roids I'm bound to need it.

Well, I think you should trust that your doctor is the expert and go with her opinion. If you don't trust that she's the expert on this, then go find another doctor. Using steroids isn't worth your health. I know that isn't the answer you want to hear, but what we want and what we need are not the same thing always.

We’re all shortening our lifespans by using drugs/meds/steroids

As you progress through all of this, it just becomes more difficult to keep ourselves in check

As this heat approaches here, my BP has been so all over the place man - from mid 90/50 to 150/80

Environment/stress levels definitely influence BP. I recently had to see a cardiologist ( not my regular cardiologist but in the same practice) to get clearance for an upcoming surgery. My usual 120-ish/70-80-ish turned into 158/114 but pulse was only 75.

Oh yeah - stress & anxiety will do it

For me though, it’s something temperature related - it was perfect up until we started hitting 100-105

This is my first summer having my brain glued together

So a few things are definitely out the door - trying my best to stay in the game as long as I can

Absolutely no doubt that you will!!

Edit: We've been lucky here, but the pressure cooker will be starting soon.

Atenolol, but that just keeps me 120’s/mid 80’s. Pot drops my BP to 100’s/60’s. I mean, I’m amazed when I read the monitor. May start experimenting with low dose in the afternoon - post workouts & no further driving needed that day.

It's already getting that hot out there? Damn. We've been lucking out with the relatively mild and dry days in LA. Nothing too hot that a few glasses of iced tea (unsweetened) couldn't fix.

I've been trying lately not to let the stress from life get to me. I cut out a lot of the things that used to get me worked up.
