Noticed more waste since I switched to smaller pins
Long time no post, but I couldn't find an answer in search. Ever since I found out that I can shoot oil with a insulin size needle, I've been using 1/2" long, 30 gauge, and would never go back. With this method even long esters are daily shots but lower volume.
The only issue is that it seems there's a lot left the syringe after each shot. I'm using interchangeable tips instead of insulin syringe-and-needle combo. I chose this because the backfill method looks questionable as to whether it's sterile or not.
I noticed how much was left because I'm also shooting some HGH Frag from a tiny vial and the low doses add up... it looks like I'm wasting up to a third sometimes. It also applies to gear, but since the volume is usually higher, less gets wasted.
Anyway, I think if I backfilled a slin pin, I'd get 100% out of it. But there is also a "low dead space" syringe on GPZ. Anyone know if that works much better, or if I'm better off with a standard insulin needle?Last edited by arby; 08-29-2021 at 05:33 PM.

Draw a small amount of air after pulling your meds to purge the syringe when you inject?

I was always taught to avoid air bubbles but yeah, this works. It's a little tough trying to get air to move when it's in a small space in the needle air gap, and then not having it form on the side or some get left behind.
It's also only a problem with my 30 gauge pins. The 21 ga for drawing, when I empty them out, there's nothing left in the syringe. The same vendor has longer 30 gauge I might try just to not have to worry about the air.
I noticed my syringes already have the same form factor as a "low dead space" one, where the plunger is shaped to go in the needle instead of being flat. So getting the special ones wouldn't have made a difference.

How do you use a 30 gauge, is their anything special you have to do? I've always found the 23 to be small.

There's a YouTube video that opened my eyes to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lt_sHwpPlIk. He talks about backfilling though, and I'm using interchangeable needles.
A long time ago, after a year of TRT I felt like I started getting scar tissue in some places. I was shooting with a 25. So it was a relief to find something where you don't feel anything.
There's also that pinch and twitch when you hit a nerve, that's also gone with a 30.

Jesus, he couldn’t sound anymore like an infomercial. His delivery was painful to listen to…
That aside, I get it. 365 days a year though? Lots of guys here like the backfill method and swear by daily injections
No thanks, I can barely remember to brush my teeth twice a day. Do I have some scar tissue? Yup. 8 years of TRT and going strong though.
I don’t think anyone’s ever died from a scarred up butt cheek? Not worth the hassle to me I guess, but to each his own. I get the stable levels but with biweekly injections it’s not like I get some massive crash and my estrogen is never a factor.
Again, to each his own and I’m happy it’s working out for you. I think you could film a better video though…
I kept waiting for him to say “but wait, there’s more!!

I got a few other needles, brand names this time, and they all work good without any waste. The ones that I got that don't work well are Shaotong.
If you buy needles online avoid the Chinese names. The ones I got that work good are Medline for the 1/2" long, and Exel for the 1" long. Both are 30s.

Between the test and HCG , 4 injections per week is enough for me. I can’t imagine doing daily pins for years. Wonder what the reason is? Too much conversion?

He talks about pinning daily to keep the volume per shot down, given the more shallow depth. And keeping blood levels more stable, which of course is debatable if you're already on a longer ester.
I always dreaded the shots when I was doing them once a week. Now that the pin is so much smaller I don't even think twice about it even though it is every day.
