New Wand Interview (talks of title fight on NYE)
tatame.com
Who wanted to watch Wanderlei Silva really sad about his defeat to Mirko Cro Cop at last Pride, got realy surprised with the champion mood in the backstage of the Fury FC. "Fighting is just like that, we don't choose our adversaries so we can win or lose. I was really prepared for this fight, training really well, I think that maybe I though that my adversary wasn't so good. The fact is that all of his blows got me and against someone so tough and danger we don't have a second chance", analyzed the medium champion, who after two weeks spending his time in Bahia and Natal was already planning to go back to his trainings for a possible fight at Pride of December 31st, when we will probably will put his belt in game.
Asked about who deserved to face him (Arona, Minotouro or Belfort), Wanderlei didn't think a lot: "Ithink Rogério will be great for me, especially because of his bouts against Arona. He is really good in Boxing. I don1t know what the Pride organization is thinking now, but it would be the best thing, for me he is the guy right now. Vitor is also really good, he already won me years ago. But he hasn't been coming from good bouts so I don't have any interested about it. I already faced Arona two times and Rogério came from good victories", concluded the fighter from Curitiba.
Wanderlei and Minotauro already confirmed their presence at the Super Challenge on Saturday where they will receive a special tribute of the event.
-------
I agree with Wand and already heard he would most likely be facing Rogério on NYE for the title. Rogerio has very good boxing and can pose some trouble with his reach advantage but i believe with Wanderlei coming off his first ever KO loss he will be more focused than ever as he feels he has alot to prve not to mention his title is on the line.
In other news, rumours out of Brazil are that Rudimar & Shogun are in negotiations with Pride for Shogun to fight Fedor on NYE if CroCop has not healed completely by that time. Fedor is a bad man but he is human and i believe Shogun can really give him hell, can he win? Yes! Will he, i'm not sure as i would still favor Fedor being the champ and his track record.
One thing is certain, Fedor has never fought a fighter like Shogun who keeps moving and on the ground constantly moves and will not open himself up for the GnP like Minotauro does going for subs, Shogun will look to tie up and defend more but will still attack with submissions. Would be very entertaining nonetheless..Last edited by Panzerfaust; 10-05-2006 at 01:35 PM.

it would be great if silva fights minitouro on nye. however, i think if crocop cant make it, barnett should step up and fight fedor as the number two finisher in the owgp. shogun i believe has no business in the ring with fedor. he had problems standing up with Cyrille Diabate(a nobody) and had to take him down to beat him. i believe that fedor has the advantage standing and on the ground not to mention that he outweighs shogun by about 30lbs.

You do realise that Diabate comes from a K-1 background? Not to mention he is 6'6. While Shogun is 6'1 and Fedor is 6'0
Don't write Shogun off so easily now, styles make fights and i will agree that Fedor most likely has the "power" advantage on the feet.
I also agree that Barnett would be better but apparently DSE is wanting to win the ratings war against K-1 on NYE and a Shogun vs Fedor match would be more interesting (the fans wanna see CroCop vs Fedor II), the Japanese love smaller fighters taking on bigger fighters, although in reality Shogun is 225-227lbs before he cuts to 205lbs so he is not small by any means.
We will have to wait and see on this, things change but it is rumoured they are negotiating.***No source checks!!!***

well i guess the only thing that can piss me off about new years is if fedor doesnt fight anyone. then again shogun might not make it through real deal(never write ramdleman off). by the way, since you are the video guru here, are you going to posting the real deal vids here the day after? please
oh and shogun is listed as 5'11" at 91kg~201lbs. he'll have to put on alot of weight in the two months after real dealLast edited by Sepsis; 10-05-2006 at 06:01 PM.

If i get time after the event, i will try to post them.
As far as Shogun, he truly is 6'1 not 5'11 and he fights at 93kg (205lbs) but cuts from 225lbs). It won't be hard for him to put his wight back on because essentially he will weight around 215lbs or so by fight time anyway after rehydrating.***No source checks!!!***

seems like a nice enough guy, very humble. i think that at 6'6", his hight is a disadvantage to him at MW. he should bulk up and gain some power. he could be a real threat then because of his natural speed.
what name do you post under at sherdog?

cyrille's a funny mofo. last TUF season some jackass posted that bisping pwned him in a taiboxign match and diabate came on and pwnt the guy- basically said hwo the fight really went (that he accepted it on a couple days notice and still made bisping look like a rookie).
