GSP champ
He DESTROYED Hughes!
KO!
thank god!!
Sylvia keeps title...I hate the dude but his sprawl is awesome and when he did get taken down, he did well and even tried a few subs on monson
Mir KO's in 1 minute shame

I was suprised to see Mir go down so quick. I still cant wait to see the day that Vera gets the shit kicked out of him.
The fight with Sylvia and Monson was boring but you gotta give Tim some credit because of his take down defense and him trying to get a couple of submissions on Monson.
Im still in shock about how the GSP and Hughes fight went. You rarely see guys able to prevent Hughes from taking them down and GSP did and excellent job. We all know that they will have a rubber match so Matt better come out with a kick ass game plan in the next one. Honestly i wanted hughes to win, im a big fan of his but everyone looses at some point and his time came sooner than he thought. Good job by GSP!!

Matt's style has changed his last few matches.. I miss the Matt Hughes who'd force power moves and slams...he's too confident in his mediocre standup..
That being said..he's gonna have a hard time with the rubber match...

Matt has gotten to confident in his standup and needs to go back to his ground control. Matt has done alot of this sport and for people not to recognize that shows the arrogance/disrespect of american mma(ufc) compared to prides audiance. Also Sylvia looked good he did what he had to. He played a good game. Monson is just so damn short for a heavyweight. Mediocre card at best. It would not surpize me to see matt retire in 1 fight or maybe just retire.

I would never say that Hughes sucks. But all the Hughes fans need to recognize that his skills have diminished in the last couple fights. I dont know if it overconfidence or complacency. But against BJ Penn he was getting beat and he came back. Against GSP the first time, he was losing until GSP made a mistake and got caught in an armbar. Hughes is a great athlete, the best WW ever in UFC, but in time everyone loses their edge. It's GSP's time. Hughes showed a lot of flaws in his last couple fights. He has a lot to work on if he plans to make a serious comeback against GSP for the next fight. One things for sure, though, each of them have guaranteed themselves almost $400K in future earnings. Not bad I must say!!!!

I was in aww to see the cockyness of Matt and seemed like he didn't take it too seriously at all, till he got a shin against his temple. pretty disapointed IMO.

I still find it hard to interpret the look on Hughes face during the fight. Cant tell if he is frustrated that its not going his way or if he is really thinking that it was playing out how he wanted it to and it was just a matter of time until he won? I did like the glove tap from Hughes after the spinning back kick and the smile as to almost say ..." well done young grasshoppa, you're learning"
Those were a shame, hate to see that happen.

bet he was in shock at gsp's conditioning. Everyone pumped hughes ego so much about his conditioning i bet he actually thought he could out last anyone. GSP's condition is on another level. He looked like hughes was going half his speed the whole night.

The intensity on GSP's face was frightening. Looks like a crackhead chasing a peice of rock... Im sure that plays a part in the opponents mindset.

As soon as Matt walked into the ring, I said that he didn't look like he usually does. He looked as though he had no color and he has lost some mass. I think that since he got his new boxing coach, he has been spending too much time sparring and not enough time lifting. What the fuk was he doing trying to box in this fight? Every part of his body looked smaller. Then during the match, he was more worried about slapping hi-fives and giving smirks than he was about fighting. Hughes needs to get back to the the fight plan that got him to where he is. Congrats to JSP, he is a great guy and faught one hell of a match.

it looked to me like Matt got old in this fight, he's 33 and for some people in boxing and MMA thats old. The rubber match will tell if thats true, if he comes out better, then we know he did something different with his training, if he looks the same I would say that age caught up with him, I really like Matt and gsp, gsp just completely out powered him, was quicker and hungrier.

Age does start to take a toll on fighters but i dont think thats a factor with Matt. He just recently went two rounds with BJ and was getting the shit kicked out of him and came back and kicked BJ's ass in the third. I think he would beat BJ again but GSP will be a tough one and i think he'll get his belt back unless he decides to retire.

rar but remember couture vs arsedale it seemed like months and his reflexes had dropped. Staph infection or no he was slower. Matt is no spring chicken I hope he can come back and go out on a better note but it could be age. Fighters age at degrees

Yeah i know, im just basically saying that i dont wanna see Hughes retire yet. He is the best welterweight champ the UFC has ever seen.
