Ufc Blowin Up!
I haven't missed a UFC in about 6 years now, even though i can't remember much of them because i am usually wasted when i watch them. I knew it would happen, but it still amazes me how big the UFC is getting and how fast it has happened. With the aquisition of the WEC, and the addition of Rampage, and possibly Cro-Cop, 2007 could be the best year for the UFC so far. Anybody wanna take a guess about how long it takes before MMA totaly replaces boxing as America's combat sport? I give it 5 years.

I give MMA about 7 years b4 it hits super big time (ie comparable fighter payouts to boxing). IF ur talking about replacing combat sport, i give it about 3-4 years. Many new organizations are popping up and UFC is totally revolutionizing (is that even a word) the mma game in terms of mass appeal. even tho pride is better lol

MMA is already on the heels of Boxing..i give it another 2-3yrs maybe less
PPV prices will be $45 in 2007 and will climb to $49.95 just like boxing. The UFC is doing good but i still hate the stupid cage and the rules are pathetic.***No source checks!!!***

Pride rules!
No Elbows, Knees to a downed opponent, Soccker kicks, Stomps
I ****ing hate elbows and cuts, and the cage is pathetic and only hurts the image of the sport.
The ring is better in many ways IMO
1. You have to use more skill (Henderson's words, and i agree) because you cannot simply smash a person against the ropes as effective as a ****ing chain link fence allowing your opponent to move around more which in turn makes you work that much harder to keep him where you want him.
2. The view is 10x better for the fans
3. It flat out looks better
The cage:
1. Take opponent down
2. Drag opponent to fence
3. Elbow until a cut
4. Win the fight...woohoo /sarcasm***No source checks!!!***

2. Boxing is a long standing American Tradition with its legends (Ali, Frasier, Luis, Tyson, ect…)
3. People appreciate the stand up and battle it out aspect of Boxing
4. It is the excitement of the hitting/ striking that really gets crowds going and many UFC fights tend to be 2 guys rolling around with each other which is not as exciting for large crowds. Otherwise sports like judo and wrestling would be as popular but they are not.
5. UFC is a fairly new concept and in general people at large are not comfortable with new ideas or concepts, especially older generations that grew up on boxing.
6. Boxing target audience is between males 18 years old to OLD… UFC target audience is 15 to 30. It seems like anything over 30 is ancient in the UFC and in boxing you got guys who still continue to fight at 45 + ( A good example of this concept would be the recent release of Rocky)
7. Boxing has associated with it the story of the underdog coming up and if anything the population at large loves more is a rags to riches story about a common guy fighting his way to the top…i.e. Cinderella Man. People identify with being down and out and it gives them hope to overcome.
8. And most importantly why UFC will never be as big as boxing is because the Boxing Commission holds a huge strangle hold on what is commissioned as a fight or not and when and where these things can happen. So in short, Boxing with all of its power will not let it happen.
I could think of other reasons but I figure this should suffice.

Randleman sure as hell did on Crocop.

Don’t believe the Hype… As I stated and I will state again for the final time UFC will never be as popular as Boxing. If I am wrong, you can post on this thread in ten years a “I told you so!” but in the famous words of someone “It aint gonna happen!”

I liked the ufc when hiost gracey was fighting but it seems that it's just brawling and no real skill or technic. I would have to agree about the ring it's better you would have display alittle more skill than the cage.

to be at the boxing level, id say 10 yrs..its has a long time to go, i think alot just has to do with plain history. it just doesnt have it yet, but will eventually.
i think the ufc will go under, and pride will take over within the next 5..i think ufc is getting a bit on edge since pride is making US apperances, because they know themselves that true fighters will favor pride over ufc anyday, no disrespect but its mainly about the rules and the lack of the stupid fence that gets all the tapout wannabies walkin around saying they are "cage fighters" too bad that real fighters are not their main demographic. in fact, i think ufc will make a WWE like turn IMO and already has with the reality shows. but, its great for business i suppose.
lol anyways though
i love elbows, and i love throwin em..but i really hate seeing a fight stopped because of a cut. i think they should wear really thin pads, just to prevent the cutting. secondly, no knees on the ground i think is about retarded..they need to allow them.. i can agree with soccer kicks though...thats straight up hardcore there and probally wouldnt fly in the sanctioning dept so well..but for the love of god get rid of the stupid ass cage

Boxing has made so many mistakes. MMA will overtake it plain and simple. One is the newer generation of combat sports audiance is shaping up. Secondly boxing matches(good ones) where shown on free tv thats stopped the ufc and pride are showing decent to good match ups on free tv. Also the really charasamatic fighters are gone, sure you still have paquie(sp) but taylor, kilitcho etc dont have that star apeeal, MMa will become larger then boxing in 5-10 years.

Not sure if this scenario would examplify the situation, but didnt that boxing reality show flop while TUF saw massive ratings? I think that shows what the audience wants to see.
